Really, how good is the SEC?
No one can deny its the best conference going at the moment. No one can deny that the overall speed and talent level is tremendous. The weekly drama is unparalleled, thanks to so many good match-ups, and the overall competition is so tough that its just about impossible to get through unscathed. So after the way Florida blew up Ohio State to win the national title, will the conference start to get every benefit of the doubt? It should.
--snip--
But really, how good is the SEC?
To feed the ego a little more, the league has gone 7-1 in the BCS since 2001, with two national titles, and the lone blemish was Georgias 38-35 upset loss to West Virginia in the 2006 Sugar Bowl. In that same time span, the Big Ten went 4-6 (with Ohio State winning three of those), the Big 12 went 3-6, and the ACC was 0-6.
Remember, it took USC losing to UCLA and a sizable portion of the voters to go against Michigan just to get Florida in the championship game. Maybe its time to start weighing the strength of schedule more when it comes to the SEC, and to realize that a one-loss team here could be the equivalent of an unbeaten team from another conference. That might especially be the case this season.

That’s right mikey, all UF Engineers know how to do is grade parking lots and all UF Architects cam do is design stip malls.! I wonder if all the Physics majors can do is design bottle rockets. Must get with NASA on that one.

Who cooked the French Fires?..........
Oh, and the first Heisman trophy winner to actually play for a school where John Heisman coached.
Many student get accepted in those schools but would rather attend UF, enjoy the spirit of Gator Nation, not endure the crappy weather or the liberal nut cases that attend most of your posted top ten. (MIT & GIT the exceptions, provided the students at MIT don’t go off campus)
As I said, a little early for this BS.
I would happily trade Vandy to the ACC for Clemson in the SEC to regain our greatest rivalry.
We Dawg fans are very proud GA Tech can put out Engineers to rival the best. We are also very proud they put out football players to rival the worst! :)
That's two Razorbacks and no Commodores. :-<
Just kidding (sort of). About time for the SEC!
Oops! I need to go to bed.
I am pleased that at the University of Georgia (a.k.a. “Cow College”) they finally planted grass and hedgerows on their football field. Their cheerleaders needed somewhere to graze. :0 )
Question: If a married UGA man and woman get divorced, are they still brother and sister? :0 )
Thats illegal in Georgia. They can still be cousins however. ;)
What about Florida, Ga Tech and Auburn?
See you in September, Dawg.....Go Gamecocks!
War Damn Eagle!
War Eagle!
Back at ‘cha. Takes one to know one. Class of ‘71.
Fullmer is IMHO the MOST overrated coach in the country. With the talent he's brought in the last 6-7 years, he should have done far better than he has. Urban has a real test this season. Great recruiting class..but they lost a ton of talent last season..and the frosh may need a year to jell...the guy can flat out coach..and as Tebow goes, well..it's gonna be a fun year to watch.
Have you read “Bloodfeud”...by Ivan Meisel..a story of the Auburn-Alabama game..there was another excellent book a few years back..”Ironbowl” I think it was called. The best move ever was when they took the game out of Birmingham and alternated campuses..
