Video: We’re making military progress, says … Dick Durbin
Hot Air ^ | 8/8/07

So shocked is CNN anchor John Roberts that he repeats the question — twice — to make sure he’s understood him correctly. Kudos to Roberts too for calling him on the goalpost-shifting here. Faced with the undeniable fact of the Anbar awakening (well, almost undeniable), the Democrats have subtly shifted from Reid’s and Pelosi’s and Edwards’s line that the surge has failed to the more nuanced (and more accurate) line that the political process has failed. Entirely true and entirely undisputed, from leftist bete noires O’Hanlon and Pollack on down to warmongering wingnut embed bloggers. More on that in a moment, but first click the image to watch.

I suggest Turbin Durbin is morphing his stance prior to the election season. We’ll probably see more of this as the democrats try to convince everyone that they are a loyalist party (only now the the US instead of the terrorists talking points).

I guess some truth is just too overwhelming for even liberals to disregard it.

The Dems need to prepare their flock for the fact that, Dem or GOP in 2008, the US troops will be in Iraq for a long time to come.

The last thing they want is for their own home-grown moonbats to be rioting in the streets like they did for LBJ should they win in ‘08.

Never mind Turbin Durbin. Regardless of any success in Iraq, he will continue to work for our defeat because he actually believes that is the best way to increase the Democratic Party’s power.

What should interest all is the empty suit that sat next to him. You Penn voters must be so proud of replacing Santorum with Cadaver Casey. What a duffus!

Can’t satisfy these people. Now that they admit military progress is being made they say bring the troops home because of the lack of political progress. They complain that the Iraqi government is on a one month vacation but so is ours. Go figure.

Sigh.

Imagine the pain, the soul-searching before Durbin came out.

Oh, well. Two more points in the polls.

Posing to take credit for surge’s success.

After all there is no other direction but withdrawal and defeat left.

OK, so he's saying that the military solution is working and the political solution doesn't? Isn't this exactly 180 degrees out of synch with what they've been saying all along?

It must be hard to be a Democrat....

Having large elements of the civilian population reject Al Qaida is hugh political progress. The lack of legislation is less important.
