My wife is 52 and continues to wear contact lens. Been no problem thus far.

No problem here. But I just looked at the box I'm going through now and it came from Ireland.

Reading all of these problems makes me feel better that I have worn nothing but glasses for over 40 years.

Wait a minute. That didn’t come out right. You know what I mean.

Oh crap - I've had NOTHING but trouble with the Acuvue Oasys and never thought about their being made in China. They are drying out on me in about 2-3 days. Not only that, one of my children has had red eyes for about 6 weeks that the doctor is treating with drops, but it is not going away.

Any idea who makes lenses in America?

I suggest you contact the FDA about this one. Seriously. Just give them a report, and then maybe find an investigative reporter to check on this further and get the story out into the media.

Giggles. You're forgiven, as it's pretty early in the morning.

Actually, on second thought, the image of you sitting there typing and posting on FR in "nothing but glasses" is a good one! :-)

I use Focus Night and Day also...they are great. Tried other brands and I had problems.

I have and that’s why I tried Acuvue Oasis. Also tired B & L but didn’t fit right. Used special eye drops and no contacts for a while but no success.

I was over 40 when I began using the ones for mono vision for reading correction mostly. So that would not appear to be my problem.

All Acuvue are Johnson and Johnson.

I hope you know about the AMO Complete solution recall and problems.
I stopped using it a year ago.

I just switched to Acuvue Oasys lenses and they are the most comfortable I've ever used.

My box has a bunch of Japanese type, and a Japanese web address. I don't see anything which says, "Made in Japan," though. But I don't see Made in China either.

I, too, tried “Oasis” for a while but had to discontinue them as I’m not sure that they fit as well.

No, I have no problem with contacts. After 20+ years of putting up with them, I got LASIK.
Best money EVER spent.......

I’ve been wearing Accueview Toric extended wear for years. I have to agree, they have not been as comfortable as they once were. I am now wearing glasses for the next two weeks so my corneas can heal. Doctor claims they were not getting enough oxygen. I was not aware they were made in China. If that is true, that will certainly figure into my future relationship with Accueview.

I’ve been wearing contacts for over 30 years ... hard lens in the 70’s, soft lens after. Started wearing extended wear (supposedly good for a month) when they came out in the early 80’s and could have gone blind. The longer you wear contacts without a regular cleaning and disinfecting agenda, the less oxygen your eyes are able to get causing the body to enlarge the blood vessels in your eyes to compensate and carry oxygen. Had to stay in a darkened room for about 2 days without any kind of vision enhancement because even a weak flashlight would be excruciating to my eyes. Learned a valuable lesson and only wear disposable daily wear now. Have to wear safety glasses at work so normally my own glasses (lineless bifocals) are used there and contacts everywhere else (but still have to carry a pair of cheap 1.5x reading glasses in case I have to read something like a restaurant menu while wearing contacts). Have tried bifocal contacts (one eye far vision, one near vision) but didn’t care to lose that much long distance vision for playing sports and driving.

Found that the "Johnson and Johnson Vision Care, Inc." division making all Acuvue is "Vistakon."

Searching for more on them, ie who are they where are they.

Sounds about right. I cant wear contacts for more than a few hours anymore. And its been like thisfor about the last two to three years. I used Acuvue, and currently use Accuvue Oasis.

Curious!
