Said the Breck Girl today,
Edwards, a former North Carolina senator said that Lute's remarks show "the true danger of the administration's breathtaking failures in Iraq and around the world," according to a campaign statement.
"Now, instead of ending this war and doing what is right for our troops, their families and the nation, President Bush is floating the idea of a draft that would send more young Americans to Iraq," Edward said.

Really, we can't make this stuff up.
Hate to say it...but most military folks are against it as well. You’d have to deal with alot more people with issues about the mission and declaring they won’t obey orders. In the end...we’d have to create brigades of troops which remain in some outback post (Arizona, my choice) where thousands of troops who refuse orders have to be given a shovel each day to dig a pit...because you can’t trust them in combat but you won’t release them from their 2-year commitment. The amount of money flushed down the drain would be tremendous. I’d rather pay that flushed money to guys who want to be in and later go after a degree or a personal business.
This isn’t really avout supporting or opposing the draft, but Edwards change of tune from May to now.
While I personally don’t advocate a draft either, several in my unit in Nam were draftees and we had no problems with them.
But, that was then when the draft was a part of growing into manhood. Today, that doesn’t hold true.
The only person I’ve ever heard pushing for a draft is that dumb ass Charlie Rangle.
Rooooovvvvveeee
The senate today is not congruent with the notion of a representative republic.
That's fantasy to toss out the senate, but to repeal the 17th amendment seems a reasonable starting place.
Well, a democrat’s win would insure it.
He needn’t worry, there are no planz to draft girls.
Regards
So, when does he plan to serve?
“President Bush is floating the idea of a draft that would send more young Americans to Iraq,” Edward said.”
Bush isn’t floating it. The story I read said a military advisor floated it to Bush.
Edwards is the real one floating here (in his loafers.)
The draft is wrong: morally, politically and Constitutionally.
Wait'll the LSM runs with this. Edwards will poll way up to Her Thighness.
This is bad news. Even though it's entirely false. We have to shut this down NOW.
So the subordinate suggested this to Bush, and Bush broadcasts it to the media?
Seems to be a lot of floating going around.
typical cowardly liberal who never served his country.
Perhaps Edwards will come out and explain what he meant by his own call for “mandatory service to the country” just over two months ago.
Sounds very PC for a ‘draft’ to me.
What’s truly ‘breathtaking’ to Edwards is his own rhetoric. He never shuts up long enough to breathe.

Edwards Lashes Out at Draft RevivalThe headline exaggerates. He didn't really lash out, but instead very carefully spoke, holding his head still the whole time. You see, if you lash out, you're in danger of moving your head back and forth abruptly, which can lead to mussing up your hair.
Wrong. It is the price to pay for living in the greatest nation in the world. Everyone should serve, and I mean EVERYONE in one capacity or another. If they cannot handle the fighting then make them cooks, clerks, garbage haulers, etc.
The key is that NO ONE is exempt.
