Maybe it’s just vacation time, MNJohnnie. DC is hot and humid in August.
Now there you go, ruining a perfectly good rant with a piddling things like reason and logic!
On Thursday the lens specialist who works with my surgeon actually fitted a trial contact. There’s still some minor changes need to be made to the fit (so it won’t pop out) and the prescription needs to be tweaked, but it’s a welcome start. I mean, it’s only been 260 days since the surgery and I haven’t had any usable vision in that eye... (no, I’m not frustrated, not at all)
My other woe right now is a bad bacterial systemic infection. It started with a mild rash that the dermatologist thinks was a reaction to one of my blood pressure medicines. When I took those trips to Hawaii and then Florida in quick succession in May/June the added heat and humidity caused that to flair up into an intense heat rash which then got infected, particularly a few spots on my lower legs. It’s really had me down for awhile. They’ve got me on another course of strong antibiotics and they’re starting to take hold and some steroids to help with the symptoms. This heat wave isn’t helping any and I have to hide in air conditioning and avoid any strenuous activity.
I’m just falling apart! Also, WTMI, I’m sure.
I really need to get this knocked out somehow. I have a full week in town with two full days of presentations at mid-week, followed by three straight weeks of travel, first to Austin, Texas, then Loveland, Ohio (near Cincinnati) and then back to Austin. Oddly it looks like Austin’s weather will be about 5 degrees cooler than here in Memphis, so it may help. Ah well.
Thankyou for the kind words, by the way. I have to keep reminding myself of Wile E. Coyote, though, or this will go straight to my head.
Today, like many other days, Americans are fighting and dying in a war against an evil unlike anything we’ve ever known.
Not one mention so far on these morning shows other than how it “plays” in the upcoming election.
I find this quite disturbing.
His family is more or less “Soprano South”. His baggage keeps him anchored firmly where he is.

Very good point.
True words!

That stunt almost worked and was stage managed very well with cooperative press dutifully in tow. Corker performed very well and did some masterful jiujitsu and turned the tables on Ford. Harold couldn't handle the way things went when it went off of his script and floundered. I think that's what killed him. The "racist" ad was nothing of the sort and that attack was a desperate attempt to come back from the debacle of the press conference.
Chris Wallace is talking to Mitt Romney. Mitt is composed and very, very smart.
Chris asked Romney if Fred Thompson isn’t the REAL conservative. Mitt responds with the fact that he has an actual record of accomplishment and people can look at that.
Now Wallace is trying to hurt him on the abortion issue.
Next he will ask him if he doesn’t really believe in polygamy.
The boosterism for Paul is loud but like yesterday’s Straw Poll, doomed to failure. As I posted yesterday, Paul may be an obgyn, but I don’t care for what he is delivering.
Good grief, Chris Wallace is doing everything he can to damage Romney with the abortion issue.
Chris’s next ploy, when they come back from break, will be to see how much damage he can do by getting Romney to compare/distance himself from the President.
Just switched on tim. Is that little odd looking girly boy from the Kos, or what?
Signed,
Clueless in Texas
Despite Wallace’s best efforts to put him on the spot, Romney handles himself quite well....better than Wallace by a long shot.
Of course, I could be wrong. I thought I was wrong once before, but I was mistaken.
LOL... Rosemary's Baby
Extremely well.
Here comes the attempt to get a Bush bash going. Doesn't work. It just allows Mitt an opportunity to start talking about his plans.
Now Chris is reading all the bad stats about Mass.
No mention of the fraudulent temperature data being exposed this week in two separate incidents. That would be too... inconvenient.
for reference:
New Scandal Erupts over NOAA Climate Data
Quantifying the Hansen Y2K Error (Weblog Climate Audit Finds NASA GISS US Temp error--big one!)
to "revise and extend" an old truth
in descending order of truthfullness, there are:
Garnering less than 1% of the Iowa vote and no funds to speak of as well as his past political baggage and recent flip flop on immigration, McCain’s massive ego won’t let him let go. Even the media’s tepid encouragement about his chance for a comeback won’t work either.
I cannot believe Wallace is going after Mitt as being cruel and inhumane to his dog.
Wallace says he would no more put his dog on a car in a carrier than he would one of this children. (Subtext: Mitt is a child abuser.)
