GREEN MEANIES (MEET THE GLOBAL-WARMING MCCARTHYITES)
NY Post ^ | August 12, 2007 | JAY AMBROSE

Posted on 08/12/2007 3:24:22 PM PDT by neverdem

NEWSWEEK magazine, which tells us in a recent edition about a "well-funded," global-warming "denial machine," is itself something of a trashing machine, a journalistic pretender that mistakes smear for substance.

The stumbling, bumbling exercise in ad hominem McCarthyism takes it as an unchallengeable truth that global warming is a human-induced catastrophe that could be readily prevented, and concludes there is just one way to explain the "naysayers" to this holy writ: They are part of a "well-coordinated," heavily financed scheme cooked up by self-serving corporate interests to dupe the public and confuse or buy off politicians.

The article not only fails to make so sweeping a case, but skips over a fact that the rawest newsroom rookie should have picked up - namely, that the Chicken Littles have outspent the cited think tanks and other groups in trying to inflict everyone with the willies, scientific exactitude be hanged.

As some of the skeptics have noted in response to Newsweek's nastiness, the expenditures of the doubters are in fact dwarfed by the multimillions skillfully deployed by environmental groups. Sure, some corporations have sought to persuade lawmakers and the public that the alarmism is itself a danger, and why not? These businesses could be badly damaged by some suggested policies that, in terms of actually achieving anything, might be little more than voodoo dances.

Newsweek thinks they would be jim-dandy. On the basis of what analysis? Nothing precise is offered.

The more you read the Newsweek piece, the more you notice it excludes still other information and argumentation that doesn't suit its thesis, material that is hugely important in understanding the issue but might get in the way of advocacy. It mentions Al Gore's apocalyptic movie about warming, for instance, without noting how misleading it was on some questions, and nowhere does...

For some maddening reason, the NY Post doesn't include their subtitles on their printer frindly page. I included it in the parentheses.

These people are not only idiots, they are clueless idiots.

They refuse to understand that religion and politics are two different things. Tree hugging is their religion and it is also their politics. Having rejected Christian religion, they have embraced “enviormentlism” as a religion and thusly are insulted and irritated when you argue with them.

See also, “vegans” for the same deal.

The Newsweek edition of April 28, 1975 had an article on page 64 under “Science” titled “The Cooling World”. It was written by Peter Gwynne. I wonder if they still endorse that? They wanted us to stockpile food for the coming famine! (I tried to post a link, but it didn’t work)

I searched for the title, not the subtitle, MEET THE GLOBAL-WARMING MCCARTHYITES , which is not on the printer friendly page for some reason known only to the NY Post.

Watermelons — green on the outside, red on the inside.

The same way the commies tried to foist Marxism off as a science — something that would inevitably yield the results they predict — the greens have latched onto climate change and and its effects, and treat any dissenters as dupes at best, evil incarnate at worst.

Nixon pointed out years ago that Communism was indeed a religion, its obvious to me that the greens are much the same. They are nothing more than a cult with little in the way of credibility to back up their dogma and doctrine.

Interestingly enough, the only places where the green religion is working is in well-developed countries that have grown secular in other religious aspects.

The developing world has no time for their nonsense. China is building coal-gobbling, CO2 belching power plants at a fantastic rate. India is putting up refineries, petrochemical plants and other industrial projects as fast as land can be acquired and financing obtained.

Even the Islamic countries are moving forward with industrialization although in their case it is largely built by someone else.

I have no idea where all this is heading, but it does seem to be following predictable lines to date.

McCarthyism wasn’t all that bad. Ruthless but it set the communist party back over 60 years. I think we could use it again.

"...Even the Islamic countries are moving forward with industrialization although in their case it is largely built by someone else..."

The muzzies seem to limit their industrialization to only those areas that allow small arms or Atomic Weapons, and yes - those are built by someone else. They don't seem interested in building a heavy industrial base.

I guess it's a good thing that their islam-cult doesn't want them to build Toyotas or Buicks since that would drag them out of the sixth century.

Long time, bud! Stay well .................... FRegards

I work at a county park during the summer. A number of years ago we used to get a retired couple from Florida, who would come to visit their children and grandchildren in Wisconsin. They were the sweetest couple on earth, and would always take time to invite us in for a cup of coffee, and sweet rolls. (Russell and Lillian) As a veteran f the Air Force, Russell and I got along swell. He was a navigator in a B-17. Flew out of England with the 8th Air Force. Lillian was your typical southern belle. A charming woman in every sense of the word.

One day as I made my rounds through the park I stopped in to say hi to this wonderful couple, and found Lillian in tears. I asked what was the matter, and she showed me a note that had been left of their RV door:

Dear polluters of the earth,
This is a "campground". If you want to camp, bring a tent. Stop polluting the earth with your monstrosity.

I was speechless. We had no idea would have done this, but I am here to tell you if I would have been able to find this SOB, this bastard would be walking around about a foot shorter.
