Time Magazine Readership in Freefall
Forbes ^ | august 13, 2007 | Saint Louis

Posted on 08/13/2007 7:42:45 PM PDT by Saint Louis

Time's total paid and verified weekly circulation during the six months ended June 30 stood at 3.4 million, down 17.1% from 4.1 million during the same period last year following a reduction in January in the magazine's rate base.

The first half of 2006 has been a challenging period of transition for Time Warner's (nyse: TWX - news - people ) Time Inc. unit. The subsidiary said in January that it would cut nearly 300 jobs, bringing its total headcount down to about 11,000.

In conjunction with the rate base reduction, Time also pulled back on verified subscriptions--those subscriptions sold to doctor's offices, beauty salons and other public areas. Verified subscriptions at Time plunged 63.5% to 128,032 during the six months ended June 30, from 350,623 a year earlier.

Good!

My parents subsrcibed to Time during the 1980’s, and their globalist/liberal bias was obvious even then.

This is great news!

So many of the MSM are seeing their readership/viewership in free fall. This has to cause panic in that they see they can’t spoon feed us liberal propaganda anymore and survive.

At this rate, there won't be a Time magazine in 2014.

Oh, happy day!

Do you think liberals have turned to the internet and aren’t willing to pay to read their liberal talking points anymore?

You know your rag is bad when patients waiting for checkups won't even read it for free.

The bad thing is that Time and Newsweek are being used in public schools for issue discussions or reports.

I don’t think that’s the whole story. I think there are fewer people nowdays that READ. Everything is video nowdays.

Well, those of us old enough can remember that afternoon newspapers went out of business. Many of us can remember magazines such as Life, Look, Collier’s, and the Saturday Evening Post are gone or only issue occasional special editions. Maybe their time has passed and there’s no big audience remaining for a weekly newsmagazine such as Time.

Ww! 30 seconds of old school math puts these jokers in the dumper. Newsweak must be about the same, ‘specially after their editor publicly barfed on his desk over the global warming story.

You know...It only takes 2 or 3 times of people asking you why you are reading that crap until you make the decision not to read it any more. IMHO.

Why buy Time magazine when you can just make up your own pack of anti American lies just to amuse yourself...

Hopefully the hit piece Tim McGirk wrote on the Haditha Marines cost Time a lot of those subscriptions.

“Newsweak must be about the same,”

Haven’t held it in years. Did so recently, it is thin, with few ads.

“‘specially after their editor publicly barfed on his desk over the global warming story.”

I assume you are joking but can’t completely because that issue was worth a barf.
