Dozens of cities across the nation have proudly become illegal immigrant sanctuaries, but officials in one municipality are pondering the status after a Peruvian man with a felony record massacred three college-bound students.
Had authorities in Newark New Jersey contacted federal immigration officials after illegal alien Jose Carranzas first felony indictment last year he would have been deported and therefore prevented from murdering three innocent youngsters in a schoolyard this month.
Instead Carranza was released on bail, despite being charged with raping a 5-year-old girl and aggravated assault and weapons violations. This week he was charged with the gruesome execution-style murders of three college-bound students, ages 18 to 20.
The shootings evidently pushed Newark authorities to violate their sanctuary policy and contact federal immigration officials who had not been previously informed about Carranzas crime spree. If they had, Carranza would have placed in removal proceedings after his first felony arrest in October 2006.
But like a growing number of municipalities across the nation, Newark is an official illegal immigrant Sanctuary City in which police cannot ask a suspect about immigration status. Other sanctuary havens include Detroit, San Francisco, Seattle, Houston and New Haven.
Some states--such as Alaska, Oregon and New Jersey--actually have blanket sanctuary laws. In fact, New Jersey passed legislation in 2006 that bars law enforcement agencies throughout the Garden State from asking about immigration status.
After the measure blew up in their collective faces with this horrific case, lawmakers are reconsidering the consequences. Now a Newark city councilman wants to sponsor legislation urging local police to call immigration authorities upon arresting undocumented aliens because it helps law enforcement go after bad people in our community.
One newspaper editorial suggests that illegal immigrants charged with serious crimes such as rape and murder should not ever be release on bail. It also urges county prosecutors to notify federal immigration officials of adjudicated illegal aliens whether or not they get convicted.
Yes that is right...judges have immunity from prosecution. That needs to change.
If cops can be prosecuted and jailed for their actions, then judges should be subject to the same rules and laws.

Illegal Immigrant Alien Sanctuary Protects Murderer Corruption Chronicles ^ | August 15, 2007 Posted on 08/15/2007 1:08:47 PM EDT by Delacon Dozens of cities across the nation have proudly become illegal immigrant alien sanctuaries, but officials in one municipality are pondering the status after a Peruvian man with a felony record massacred three college-bound students. “The issue would KILL the democretins in 2008.”
And any R’s planning to compromise by giving amnesty to ‘good’ illegal aliens.
Illegals are just murdering the people American criminals won’t murder.
Geraldo was saying the same thing on O’Reilly last night. The guy’s a lawyer and their illegal status doesn’t seem to bother him. Incredible!
The survivor and the bereaved families must demand prosecution for every public official who failed them. Public employees on the government payroll failure to perform is a felony. As follows:
Public employees on the government payroll, and their co-conspirators, may have committed actionable offenses under Penal Law .135.60 COERCION IN THE SECOND DEGREE (a Class A misdemeanor).
PENAL LAW 135.60 (Committed on or after September 1, 1967) is Coercion in the Second Degree.
When an individual uses or abuses his/her position as a public servant by performing some act within or related to his or her official duties, or by failing or refusing to perform an official duty, in such manner as to affect some person adversely.
Perform any (other) act which would not in itself materially benefit the actor but which is calculated to harm another person materially with respect to his or her health, safety, business, calling, career, financial condition, reputation or personal relationships.
================================
The term(s), ("crime"), ("public servant") used in this definition has its own special meaning in our law.
PUBLIC SERVANT means any public officer or employee of the state or of any political subdivision thereof or of any governmental instrumentality within the state, or any person exercising the functions of any such public officer or employee.
The term public servant includes a person who has been elected or designated to become a public servant.
Along with felony criminal penalties for officials that violate that ban.
I live in South Jersey. The police refuse to prosecute illegals for minor offenses that they prosecute citizens for. In the middle of filling out paperwork for a report, if they discover the suspect is hispanic, they pack up and leave.

Actually, in the defeated Bush immigration bill, there was a provision (I don’t recall who added it) to prohibit regional authorities from passing laws conflicting with Federal law in this area and to remove Federal benefits from cities or other jurisdictions that refused to enforce Federal immigration laws.
Having a law is one thing. Enforcing it is quite another.
If only one child is saved, stopping illegals would be worth it.
Nobody can enforce any law unless the very first people who come into contact with a criminal take him into custody and then follow the legal procedures after that. The problem is that the police are usually (certainly, in the case of NJ) prevented from either enquiring about immigration status or notifying the federal authorities of it, so therefore this stuff never even gets to the enforcement phase.
The bill before Congress actually did include a provision to punish states and localities that forbade their employees - law enforcement, medical, welfare, driver’s license, etc. - to cooperate with Federal law. The bill (which I thought was lousy on other grounds) didn’t get passed, but this is something that should be part of any other federal efforts.
I love the Mayor of Newark going around emoting when his very own system forbade this guy’s being reported in the first place - and a local judge knowingly gave the killer bail.
Probably for the same reason that you can't sue members of Congress for anything they say on the House or Senate Floor.
Most legislators are lawyers by training. Passing laws that immunize their own kind (such as judges and members of Congress) just comes naturally. If most doctors also had law degrees, they could probably get in on the deal too.
Of course if you ask a law professor, you will probably get a philosophical/theoretical argument for the immunity. But as you point out, the explanations don't make much sense. If doctors are liable for their mistakes, it sure seems odd that ordinary people have to pay handily for the appeals process when a trial court judge has erred.
The victim who survived, it was supposedly a rape attempt. I have not seen this mentioned in the MSM, and she is under police protection. The girl has a gunshot wound to the head.
They (the MSM) are purposely ignoring this, because it subverts their whole strategy of turning our nation into an anything goes Third World cesspool with no more borders and no more laws.
As I have said, the GOP candidates should start using this issue like Willie Horton and get those TV and radio spots up and running.
If the two-bit mayors of these sanctuary cities found out they wouldn't get any more federal funding for their illegal alien-infested havens, they would change their tunes in a heartbeat.
They should at least hold the illegals to the same standards that Americans are punished for....they don’t even do that!
