George Tiller Staff Member Quits Job at His Late-Term Abortion Business

Wichita, KS (LifeNews.com) -- Embattled late-term abortion practitioner George Tiller suffered another setback on Wednesday when pro-life advocates announced that one of his long-time abortion facility employees is quitting her job. Marguerite Reed said she would not be returning to his abortion business if it reopens.

Tiller's Wichita-based abortion center is closed while he faces 19 misdemeanor charges accusing him of doing illegal late-term abortions without the approval of a second physician.

According to the pro-life group Operation Rescue, Reed noted in a personal web blog that she wouldn't go back to Women's Health Care Services if it reopens.

"I am perfectly content. Thank you, God," she wrote.

Reed, who had worked for Tiller for 12 years, was the employee who made a controversial call to 911 after mentally disabled Texas teenager Christin Gilbert suffered from a botched abortion.

Gilbert was bleeding heavily for over an hour on January 13, 2005 when Reed finally called an emergency dispatcher. She asked for an ambulance but wanted it not to put on its lights and sirens to avoid attracting attention to the abortion center.

"Please! Please! Please! No lights and no sirens!" she told emergency response, according to a transcript.

The dispatcher that Reed was "evasive" and uncooperative in an attempt to not alert pro-life advocates that Gilbert was in serious condition. The 19 year-old eventually died and Tiller escaped prosecution in the case.

According to OR, Reed had often commented on her blog about her dissatisfaction with her stressful job and desire to be a stay-at-home mom where she could also pursue her love of writing.

She also talked about the stresses of having to deal with "all these crying people."

In comments to LifeNews.com, Operation Rescue spokesperson Cheryl Sullenger said her group had often prayed for Reed hoping she would call it quits "and told her that on a number of occasions."

"I can't imagine a more stressful place to work, given that the horrific nature of the business is compounded by Tiller's criminal charges," she added.

"We are relieved that she is no longer directly involved in the abortion industry, and pray that she will find the peace that passes understanding that comes from seeking forgiveness in Jesus Christ," Sullenger concluded.

Pro-life people in Kansas commonly refer to him as “Tiller the Killer”.

Rarely has a nickname been so perfectly applicable.

“”I am perfectly content. Thank you, God,” she wrote.”

NOW she believes in God? Too bad she didn’t during all the years working for that butcher.

Thank you for pinging this. I too certainly hope that she seeks forgiveness for her role in these abortions (as even counseling these young women would make her a party to their crimes (sins), and that of Tiller’s as well, IMHO — though I’m not sure where she stands in regards to the criminal codes...).

It’s obvious (to me at least) that this woman is suffering from a crisis of conscience, and I’m glad she has made the decision to no longer work in this place.

I also hope that God presses upon this woman to use her experiences in her future writing to call attention to the facts of what happens behind closed doors at abortion clinics. And, as you wagglebee, that she will find the courage to reveal what she knows about this particular monster’s methods.

What a blessing if her actions could prevent many more abortions in the future if she does this, as well as making sure Tiller is held responsible for his actions. These things wouldn’t clear her of her sins (only God can do that), but it would certainly be a good penance on her part, again - IMHO.

This, IMO, just proves the fact that so many people are destroyed by abortion — beyond the actual life that is taken...

Tiller the Killer slaughtered babies legally for decades, she could speak about this and not face any legal consequences.

All we have to do is look to the life of Saint Paul to see what the Lord can do with even the cruelest of sinners.

It really is “Newspeak” - it is such a distortion and joke on the English language. These people are killers but they can’t admit it.

She worked in the business for 12 years. You really think she suddenly changed her position on abortion?
