My understanding of the Koran is that Muslims will negotiate if it works to their advantage, but they will not keep the treaty since the goal is world wide spread of thier faith which is what the jihad is all about. So once they have joint control of the Temple Mount and Jerusalem at some point they will fight to gain control over the whole enchilada.
Don’t negotiate with terrorists!

Olmert’s goal: Permanent agreement with Palestinians by November

The longest Muslims are allowed to make a hudna (truce) with non-Muslims is ten years or until they feel like breaking it, whichever comes first.

Israel would apparently agree to return more than 90 percent of the West Bank in the framework of a permanent agreement and allow the Palestinians to create a corridor between Gaza and the West Bank.

Do they honestly think this would be a solution? Everyone would say, "Yippee! It's all over! Now we can stop blowing ourselves up and get jobs!"?

Either they're insane, or they're incredibly disingenuous ... or I don't understand what's going on at all (always a possibility ...).

Whenever some really stupid Israeli leader is about to give away the store, the G-D of Israel intervenes and causes the Palestinians to reject the deal and start a war.

“The Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.”

It's "until we gain a tactical advantage from the truce".

Israel has found her Jimmy Carter. Let’s hope that this results in her next finding her Ronald Reagan.

Let’s see, Israel is giving up 90% of the west bank, parts of the Negev (maybe Ben Gurian’s kibbutz, just for the symbolism?), the right to control the Temple Mount (If the Muslims have ANY say, they will VETO everything advantageous to Israel)—have we left anything out?

Maybe Israel can give up the Golan, too.

In exchange, the Palestinian authority will agree to look like it is doing something about rockets fired at Israel;

will agree to stop referring in English (but not in Arabic) to the destruction of Israel;

will cut all (public) ties with terror and react with semi-stern words when a terror attack takes place (but not agree to cease furnishing terrorists with havens, or to arrest them, or to prosecute them);

and proceed to the next step in the step-by-step destruction of Israel.

Sounds like something Olmert would agree to, all right...

....Or a vote of no confidence in the parliment of Isreal by November, forcing general elections at an earlier date then 2010. In other words, expect a major comeback of Bibi.
