Tracking Hurricane Dean on Google Earth

Google Earth is a wonderful tool for the integration and visualization of different georeferenced datasets. With Hurricane Dean approaching the Gulf of Mexico, damage to the Gulf of Mexico oil and gas infrastructure is likely. Below, I give some useful Google Earth add-ons that will enable you to visualize the latest storm forecasts/imagery along with data about the Gulf of Mexico Oil&Gas production (click on the various links to install the individual tools or download this kmz file that will install a Hurricane folder in google Earth containing all the tools below): graphoilogy.blogspot.com

There is an extensive list of tools available at the article link, I excerpted this blog entry, I found it incredibly interesting. I think you can get all the info you need for any future hurricane from the links available. This is an incredibly cool tool, I thought Freepers would appreciate it.

(I had no knowledge of this blog until today, so I can't vouch for anything else posted there)

What are the green columns over by the Gulf Coast? Is that a graphic depiction of oil production volume?

That is a 3d graph of oil production, I just found this myself, I’m leaning towards it being refinery production by geographic area.

No one orders them anymore. They had to be retro fitted in so many ways the saving became an expense.
