By STAFF REPORTS 8/21/2007 8:52 AM Last Modified: 8/21/2007 8:53 AM

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe threw his political support to unannounced presidential candidate Fred Thompson today.

Speaking to the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce Tuesday morning, Inhofe said he expects the former actor and Tennessee senator to announce a bid for the presidency soon.

Inhofe said he will support Thompson, when he announces.

Thompson is the only Republican who has a chance to defeat Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., in the general election, Inhofe said.

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe has been on the forefront of getting the word out on the Global Warming hoax. Frankly, I wish he as running for President.

Inhofe’s endorsement carries great weight with me.

But I was a Fred! supporter already...

I have a ‘rule of 3’ for politicians. Jim Inhofe was always one of my favorites. He messed up a few years ago proclaiming that Wes Clarke was the best thing since sliced bread. Now this. He’s only got one more stupid conclusion left.

Sen. Inhofe is one of the few senators I think is worth a damn, so his endorsement is worth paying attention to for me. Should be an interesting primary.

PKM, if I remember correctly you are a big Inhofe supporter. He is a good Senator and an honorable man. I agree with him wholeheartedly in his endorsement of Fred.

Why is supporting Fred stupid? Supporting a real conservative who can communicate with people and has a damn good chance of defeating Her Heinous is stupid?

That’s why we have primaries, RnR. And Fred may be a great guy, but hardly a died in the wool conservative. BTW, is he in the race yet?

most of the GOP senators are behind McCain right now, but that is only out of respect, I think. Pat Roberts has to support Brownback until he puts that campaign to rest.

I think that most of them will back Fred after McCain fizzles.

He’s a Federalist. And sometimes, that means he might not support a “conservative” bill because he feels it’s not the Federal Government’s place to be involved in.

Besides that, he’s, IMHO, the best combination of conservative and electable we’ve got.

Hunter is a great man. I even give him MAJOR kudos for coming here on FR and talking with us himself. I just don’t see him winning either the primary or the general.

Romney is OK, but I don’t know if I can trust him.

The others are non-starters.

Brownback is mostly running for veep anyway, so I doubt Pat Roberts would hurt his feelings too much by supporting Fred.
