43% Won't Vote for Hillary Clinton - 44% Won't vote for Romney. What does that mean?
To: aMorePerfectUnion
And what do you make of the 25% of Republicans who say they will NOT vote for Romney? To me, it spells trouble in the
general election.
To: aMorePerfectUnion
It means that if those two are the candidates that somewhere between 44 and 88% of those polled "won't vote" at all, I would guess.

That means there is a huge middle ground. Looks like this nation is moving toward three parties unless Repubs and Dems can’t find more suitable candidates.

I’m not a Romney supporter, but this report really means nothing - there’s a one percent difference between his and Hillary’s? That’s stastically insignificant, and hers should be more solid.
It’s also weighed questionably:
“Like all polling firms, Rasmussen Reports weights its data to reflect the population at large. Among other targets, Rasmussen Reports weights data by political party affiliation using a dynamic weighting process. Our targets are established based upon survey interviews completed during the preceding three months (a total of 45,000 interviews). For the month of August, the targets are 36.1% Democrat, 31.3% Republican, and 32.6% Unaffiliated with Either Major Party For the month of July, the targets were 36.3% Democrats, 31.3% Republican, and 32.4% unaffiliated.”

43% Won't Vote for Hillary Clinton - 44% Won't vote for Romney. What does that mean? Either party will deserve their fate, win or lose. They choose the nominee. The American people will get the excellence or mediocrity that they deserve.
1% between Clinton & Romney doesn't amount to much, given margin of error and election year momentum swings.
I like what Romney said at the first debate, something like, 'If we wanted to run government by opinion polls, we could just have a machine make all the decisions.'

Those negative positive ratings are non-partisan polls, so what we really ought to read into those is that:
A: Republicans hate Hillary
B: Democrats despise Romney
C: There are some Democrats who like Giuliani, McCain and Thompson
I think A is given. B is something Romney can be proud of. and C. makes me wary of Giuliani and McCain. I will give Thompson a pass and say that the Democrats who like him are just Law and Order fans.

There are enough people in this country concerned about abortion that flip flopping on that topic sure can generate a lot of negatives on both sides.

I doubt that Romney will hold the lead for long.
