The theme has been on my mind a lot lately, I’ll probably think of the Romney campaign as I watch it.
You wrote, “Delusional thinking is when people supporting Fred T think its no big deal that he skipped the debates and isnt willing to make the sacrifices like the other GOP candidates.”
In case those “in the know” over at DU or Daily Kos forgot to inform you allow me to so that you can retract this statement.
The only participants in the GOP debates were those who were ANNOUNCED CANDIDATES. Now, since our Fred was not an announced candidate, do you think he should have “crashed” the debates and tried to force himself on others?
Waiting for your retraction.
Not so.. I don't like any of them.. except grudingly Newt..
Ann is probably more or less in the same boat I suspect....
Depends on the day and speech I reckon..
Hitlery WILL WIN.. But Fred at least gives me someone I CAN VOTE FOR..
Rather have Newt but will take Fred or Duncan..
The others.... no way Jose'..
There's a lot of folks who think like you, I don't, but I also didn't call losing the house and senate last November.
I watched Fred’s speech. His handlers really need to help him out on his humor. His attempts at jokes fell a little flat. To be honest with you; he needs to be more exciting for the General Election, a little more fire in the belly. He was a little boring.
Huckabee was terrific. And, I must say, Romney and Rudy gave impressive speeches. I can see why they are leading the pack. For people who don’t know any better, they are dy-no-mite.
C’mon Fred; pick it up.
It will NOT be a Clinton/Obama Ticket. THEY DO NOT LIKE EACH OTHER.
You can take this to the bank.
Fred may be a wee bit rusty, but he had me laughing a few times. Besides, the alternatives are unaccapetable. Rooty is a NYC liberal speed talker and Romney is a slick centrist talker from Massachusetts. Neither man is a conservative. Fred`s plain old fashioned conservative talk works for me.
In his speech today, Fred focused on national security, fiscal responsibility and solving the problems of entitlement reform by facing the challenge adn working together. Kind of Reaganesque. Fred also mentioned the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are still the relevent governing documents and hold the key to limited government.
Fred will be fine.
They’ve been overcome by the lamination fumes.
why are you so obsessed with being so nasty?
I more or less support Fred as do a lot of folks here but have never been so catty or silly about Romney.....I think Romney is ok.....I just fear his conviction on some issues.
Let me get this straight. I am from a very similar demographic as Fred Thompson.
He is Old South...like me.....his wife no matter how aggressive (passive or otherwise)she might be in your estimation will never RUN HIM anymore than mine will ever run me. we do what we can to please and provide well for our wives because we love them and desire to take care of them...not because they dominate us...no way....and in return we have expectations of them. It's God's way essentially. The Bible is not very ambiguous about this and neither are real Southern men.
Now that may be how yall do things out in California honey but not down here.
We love our womenfolk...worship them actually and put them on pedestals and protect them and spoil the shite out of them but we do not ever let them dominate us as a rule....especially those of us over 40 and for someone like....
Fred was raised in Lawrence county Tennessee.....no way he is under her Jimmy Choo heel.....unless he wants it In Dixie we like strong women ..but who like being women... but we don't much cotton to them being all strident and bossy or leading with their damn chins
I doubt Fred is much different even if his wife is a midwesterner... Fred is an alpha male...I know a fellow traveler when I see one
I dunno....some of what you are suggesting sure smells like open borders spirit to me..’’Thompson needs sangre fresca
the last thing I want is more damned Bushes...
I’m done with conservative-lite
and yes....I acknowldege the good stuff and have a big track record right here of hitting the streets and my pocketbook for W
and my daddy was a pioneer for 41
so I have the right to bitch
After awhile even Giuliani might get on board the Fred-train..I've thought of that myself. Although it's probably not very likely (until his slowly ebbing support starts slipping drastically), it would certainly be the honorable thing for hizzoner to do.
You said it, brother! I say Amen!
Have you noticed the subtle and not so subtle propaganda for Universal Health Care lately?..
How bout George Bush himself lobbying very heavily for the Amnesty of 20+ Million illegal and LEGAL aliens which WILL BE proto democrats just in time to register them democrat to VOTE for Hitlery?..
Its all just a little too strange.. I pretty much gave up when Bush slapped Sandy Berger's hand like a naughty child.. FOR sedition and probably espionage.. You or I would be in Levenworth for 20 years..
He is.....
If people like you were indeed more conservative, you wouldn’t be so over the top in your denunciation or in your willingness to throw the baby out with the bathwater. You would be conserving your energy and reserving judgment and/or seeing the good in someone with flaws, not trying to run him out of the party. The fact is that there are a lot of people around her who are rabid abortion haters or gun lovers who are not really conservative at all. If they were, they would have better manners.
I have no problem with actors, but let us not confuse them with roles they play. This guy is no leader, and a leader is what this country needs and deserves.
Primaries -- which is what Mitt/Rudy/Fred discussions are about -- are the one time to "run them out of the party." You'd likely be right if the discussion was in the context of the presidential elections. But it's not -- it's about the primaries.
THEREFORE, when you cast a tone of "If people like you were indeed more conservative ..." and then wonder why I resist embracing Republicans who want to involve the government in health insurance, who see meddling in private business and commerce as a solution -- I sit here with my mouth gaping. Have I been mistaken all these years? Wasn't the Republican party the one that stood for less government????
Hello??? Duh??? Conservative? Less government??? Yoohoo???
Excellent post, wardaddy.
You hit the proverbial nail squarely on the head.
I hope Saundra studies it very well.
I don’t understand why some feel the need to tear down rival candidates.
Especially with the same tired, and discredited, arguments.
We are all ultimately on the same side...anti-Hillary, and anti-’Rat..
Should Mitt become the nominee, I will vote for him for sure.
Rudi, OTOH, would cause a dilemma of monumental proportions for me.
