Pray for President Bush - Day 2537

1 Peter 1 17Since you call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear. 18For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, 19but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. 21Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.

Father God, We come to You this afternoon asking for You to guide us and forgive us each and every day we live. Lord, our hearts desire to follow You, but we do so imperfectly. We need Your grace just to make it through our days. Lord, help us to live lives pleasing to You, our Savior.

Father, I pray for this nation and for her President. We need Your wisdom and strength. We need Your power and love. We need Your sovereignty over every aspect of life. And our President needs it too. Help him to see the right path to pursue, and to pursue it. Give him a heart that longs to know You more. Glorify Yourself in him, I pray.

Go with us the rest of today and may Your name be glorified in our lives and homes I pray. In Jesus name, Amen.

Holy Father,

Thank You for this beautiful Lord's Day. May people gather from all over the world to proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord and to sing and praise His Holy Name.

Bless our President and his wife with an abiding peace as they rest at their Texas ranch. Renew their spirits and refresh their souls so that they can return to Washington and finish the work You have set apart for them there. Bless them indeed and make them instruments of Your peace. May Your love surround them, Your strength uphold them, and Your power protect them. Guard our troops and bring us great victory in Iraq, for Your glory. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Bible In U.S. Soldier's Pocket Stops Sniper Bullet

Pfc. Brendon Schweigart, 22, who is from Andover, was helping retrieve a tank in Iraq when he was hit by a sniper's bullet earlier this month.

Schweigart said the bullet stopped right where the Bible was in his shirt pocket.

"(The Bible) definitely prevented more serious injury, because if it wouldn't have been there, it would have ricocheted off my bullet-proof plate and more than likely would have gone back into my chest, causing more damage," Schweigart said.

Schweigart said he also thinks prayers from those in the United States helped him recover.

The 22-year-old said he will stay in Iraq until his tour of duty is finished in winter.

"Thanks for the prayers and the letters," Schweigart said. "Everybody wishing me to be well and thanks everybody for the support."

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.” Psalm 33:12

We praise You, Most Merciful Father, that despite the unfailing attempts by the enemy, we can continue to speak Your Name and to worship You in spirit and in truth. We long to again be states united whose God is the Lord ... as it was in the beginning, may it again be so.

And we thank You, Most Merciful Father, that our beloved President is one chosen by You for Your inheritance. Protect him and his loved ones ... bless the work of his heart and his hands and his administration ... turn back the ravenous wolves who would destroy all that is good and decent, such is their evil intent.

And we thank You, Most Merciful Father, for America’s sons and daughters who willingly stand in the gap for their countrymen, even willing to sacrifice for other people in other nations, that they might breathe free. Grant success to their noble purpose, O Lord, this day and in the days to come.

Hear our prayer, O Lord ...
Hear our prayer, O Lord ...
Incline thine ear to us
And grant us thy peace. Amen ...

Father I lift up my President to You tonight. Watch over him and give Him Your rest. Fill his mind with Your thoughts, His mouth with Your words, his heart with Your grace and his hands with Your deeds.
