"Redacted" stuns Venice-(American Atrociries In Iraq)BARF!

VENICE (Reuters) - A new film about the real-life rape and killing of a 14-year-old Iraqi girl by U.S. soldiers who also murdered her family stunned the Venice festival, with shocking images that left some viewers in tears.

"Redacted", by U.S. director Brian De Palma, is one of at least eight American films on the war in Iraq due for release in the next few months and the first of two movies on the conflict screening in Venice's main competition.

Inspired by one of the most serious crimes committed by American soldiers in Iraq since the 2003 invasion, it is a harrowing indictment of the conflict and spares the audience no brutality to get its message across.

De Palma, 66, whose "Casualties of War" in 1989 told a similar tale of abuse by American soldiers in Vietnam, makes no secret of the goal he is hoping to achieve with the film's images, all based on real material he found on the Internet.

"The movie is an attempt to bring the reality of what is happening in Iraq to the American people," he told reporters after a press screening.

"The pictures are what will stop the war. One only hopes that these images will get the public incensed enough to motivate their Congressmen to vote against this war," he said.

Abeer Qasim Hamza al-Janabi was gang raped, killed and burnt by American soldiers in Mahmudiya, south of Baghdad, in March 2006. Her parents and younger daughter were also killed.

Five soldiers have since been charged with the attack. Four of them have been given sentences of between 5 and 110 years.

Deafening silence from Hollywood about the countless atrocities committed by Al Queda in Iraq, while this ONE INCIDENT by a few bad American GI’s is singled out.

Too bad there are a lot of fools out there who will buy into this crap.

Hollywood is the main reason that Americas image has been destroyed.

If not for Hollywood and their inexcusable abuses of freedom of speech our image might just be a tad higher.

This piece of antiwar chicken manure needs to live in some foreign country.

In my lowly opinion, what a piece of scum bag liberal garbage.

I came up with 1,630,000 hits for a Google search for "Number of Multiple Murders in the United States Since 2002"

We have to pull out of the U.S. now!

Such a very sad statement of today’s times. Imagine such a film on WWII back then. It is a wonder we are still free at all. Hollywood can drop in the ocean for all I care.

“Hollywood is the main reason that Americas image has been destroyed”

I had a close business acquaintance, an engineer, in the early eighties, a Russian Jew married to a a non-Jew. He had learned English in underground classes and eventually had an opportunity to immigrate to the US on one of those special State programs.

His wife, from a village in western Russia, told of how her family, knowing full well what kind of discrimination they endured, cried. weeped and wailed when they heard she was going to the US. They just knew she would be raped and murdered here. Why? Because all they knew of the US were Hollywood movies and only the most violent were allowed to be shown in Russia.

Of course, there are murderers in every country in the world, too.

That means everybody ought to leave every country, if we were to be consistent with the premise of this movie.

I find it interesting that there have been no movies made about our highly successful Gulf War 1.

We all know what his point is. He’s pissed that not enough people are spitting on US soldiers.

This is the “Birth of a Nation” of anti-American and anti-military movies.

Doesn’t this guy usually specialize in misogyny, violence and horror?

He directed Carrie, and we know how that film ended. Get our kids out of government schools now! ;')

Okay, five Americans committed an atrocity and were tried and convicted by American military tribunals. And DePalma’s point is?

To answer your rhetorical question:

His (idiotic) point is forget about atrocities committed on a REGULAR basis and as their MO by Saddam pre-2003 and by the insurgents now.

I have a story about an illegal alien committing an atrocity as well, here in the US. I'll tell it to Brian.

Will that turn Brian in favor of deporting ALL illegal aliens???

One hopes that Brian De Palma or his loved ones one day meet the jihadis face to face. One hopes in that case, the jihadis are successful at getting him and his loved ones to submit...via the sword....

Brian, you clearly lost no one you cared about on 911- you are a piece of garbage, you deserve all ill that comes your way. In World War 2— you would have championed the good things that Herr Hitler was doing over in Germany. You would have defended Tojo during the Rape of Nanking. DePalma should be fragged..
