"Authorities said they removed nearly 80,000 rounds of ammunition from the home of a South Bend man who warned that the world was going to end."
Thats just his excuse, the real reason is he is an Irish fan ;)

Typical mainstream media article trying to demonize large amounts of ammunition, not abusive relationships.
Convince the public that you don’t “need” this much ammunition and politicians can start passing laws governing how much you may posess.

I’d feel pretty safe if the world was ending and he was my neighbor.

I haven’t counted lately, but I’ve got to have almost that much. I buy in quantities of 5000-10000 rounds and I never make less than 5000 when I change the press to a new caliber.
Let’s see...
.22
32 ACP
9 x 18
9 x 19
38 special
357
40
45 ACP
30-06
.223
7.62
12 ga. (well... OK... I only have about a thousand 12 ga.)
Yup. I probably do have him beat.

Somehow I am assuming it wouldn’t take the police hours to remove that much .22 shells though...

Id feel pretty safe if the world was ending and he was my neighbor. Until you discover he spent all his money on ammo and not food.

It’s not me. Although I live in Indiana, I have significantly fewer rounds stockpiled than this guy. If my house ever catches fire, though, the firefighters either better put it out quick or pull back about a mile and let the rounds cook off.

80,000 rounds of ammo. Pffft... With all the hoarding due to the “shortage” this ain’t nothin’.

No mention of why or anything else? I smell vindictive ex-girlfriend, if she even was a "girlfriend" to begin with.Yep. Most likely the story here. Don't want to defend the guy, 'cuz I don't know him, but I suspect most any woman can get a restraining order these days. Just sayin'.

So a persons 2nd amendment rights are suspended under a restraining order? Yup. Remember that was the crux of the Emerson case: A TRO forbidding the possession of firearms and ammunition EVEN in the absence of a specific finding that there's a threat. Ridiculous.

This thread has just added to the FreeRepublic "bang list" (firearms interest list) by adding the keyword "banglist".
Any time a firearms-related thread is created on FreeRepublic, please be sure to add the "banglist" keyword to it so that interested FReepers don't miss it. Just a suggestion.

Sounds like a pretty bogus situation for law enforcement.
There is no law against possessing a million rounds of ammo if so desired.
And some trumped up, alleged restraining order is not grounds to sieze anything without a public hearing and due process.
Lately there has been a lot of focus on confiscating or limiting the amount of ammo one can purchase and it is nothing more than a back door to gun control.
I would like to know more about this story than the article gives.

"Until you discover he spent all his money on ammo and not food." But -- If he has guns that accept the ammo he has, he can take YOUR food or anyone else's food he desires...
The folks with food can't do much by throwing bananas at him...
The prudent "survivor" will have the holy trinity - guns, food and water --- and if REALLY righteous, isolation and privacy.
