This may be the reason...

Rep. Frank Sad to See Sen. Craig Leave Congress

Senator Larry Craig (R-Idaho) announced his resignation following exposure of his arrest during a sting operation at a Minnesota airport men’s room three months ago. The sting operation was initiated after numerous complaints of harassment by men seeking anonymous sex at the facility. Craig was alleged to have solicited sex from a police officer staking out the next toilet stall.

The resignation of Senator Craig came as a cruel blow to Representative Barney Frank (D-Mass.). “If only I had been the one in the next toilet stall this scandal could’ve been avoided,” Frank observed.

Frank, one of two openly gay members of Congress, said Craig “should have come to me. We could have made beautiful music together.”

Since Craig’s effective date of resignation is September 30, Frank expressed the hope that he would be able to give him a “proper send-off.”

I got to other better “supposes”:

1) Suppose he investigated and found there is some enormous pension windfall he gets if he hangs on to the end of his term.

2) Suppose other investigation indicated there were no law firms who would want to hire him so he was looking at total unemployment.

Whether you are Republican or Democrat, a politician is a politician. They just cannot let go of that power!

Yeah, he would make a great running mate for either Hil or OHB.

I personally think he got railroaded. Something about the officers story stinks. I haven't read that particular part of the penal code, but it sounds to me like he was just trying to jerk Craig around.

That's not a reason to flush someone's career down the toilet.

No, better. I’m a trained professional on a closed course, do not attempt this at home :-)

Maybe he should just stall the investigation until all of this crap stops swirling around.

Every step Craig takes in this saga just diminishes him further. For the good of everyone, he should slink into retirement.

Let’s recall:
a) pled guilty.
b) announced his resignation.

He was forced into b) because of a) and as long as a) is still true, b) should be the correct result.

To turn around now and try to undo it is like trying to reclaim your virginity.

I don’t think Craig should stay, I doubt he can be reelected, but it’s a shame the GOP is so cowardly. They could have said he did something wrong, but shouldnt resign over an allegation of attempted gay sex

What allegation? Craig ADMITTED TO IT. He tried to pull rank as a Senator, then he ttried to make it go away. he's only sorry he got caught. I could care less he's gay. I hate the fact he's one of the self important bible banging Mr Morality types on one hand while on the other he's cruising dirty airport toilets for anonymous sex cheating on his wife. But worse, he pleaded guilty, THEN tried to cover it up.

No matter how you slice it, it's very poor judgement, and there is no room in the Senate for a felon.

Nobody has ever addressed my question about this. Am I the only one who thinks this is/was a set up from the very beginning?

Just what in the hell was a Sargent with 23 years on the force doing crawling around in toilets trolling for perverts?

Does Minneapolis have THAT many Sargents on their payroll?

The last I heard, and I admit I may be wrong about this, A police Sargent is a pretty heavy rank — a senior officer, usually an administrator if not in charge of a squad of cops or something similar. They do not get stuck with sh+t details like lurking in public johns lurking for faggots.

It all stinks. Craig is known to travel through that airport, he normally uses that head. Well, so what? Its on the way from the flight he gets off of to the flight he takes.

I am not saying he’s not a homo, I am not saying he is. But the idea of a senior policeman just happening to be on hand to make the bust makes the whole thing sound fishy to me.
