A top adviser to Rudy Giuliani yesterday trashed rival Fred Thompson as an actor whose experience fighting crime is busting make-believe criminals on television.
"Rudy is a real crime fighter," said Rep. Peter King (R-L.I.). "Fred Thompson has primarily done it on television."
King, former chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, is an adviser to Giuliani on national-security issues.
"Rudy got crime in New York City under control - not by acting, but by getting results. Rudy Giuliani has the real credentials," King added.
Thompson, a former senator from Tennessee, is known for his portrayal of District Attorney Arthur Branch on the TV show "Law & Order." He was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award in 2004.
The Thompson campaign scoffed at King's criticism. His spokesman noted that Thompson, a former Tennessee prosecutor, was an "effective" crime fighter with a "93 percent bank-robbery conviction rate.
"It's the first of what I expect to be many signs of desperation from the Giuliani campaign," said the spokesman,

King has always come across as a blowhard, even on the rare occasions he’s right.

That's nice ... unfortunately for Rudy, his idea of crime fighting includes disarming citizens.
I don't vote for gun-grabbers.
Ever.

I dunno... Thompson brought down a sitting governor. King may be confusing TV with reality, himself. Thompson really was a crimefighter, too.

Yea, they said a lot of the same things about Reagan...but when it came down to it, he was the major player behind the fall of the Soviets.

Where was all this crime-fighting when it came to prosecuting the corrupt Kerik? Or that embezzler who took his gay buddies on trips and paid to download gay porn at his city offices? Or prosecuting a mob enforcer like his own father or a mob functionary like his own uncle?
Maybe the congresscritter would like to speak to these issues.

Okay,...and gun grabbing Rudy isn’t a Republican. He only plays one on TV.

The more JulieAnnie attacks Fred the more apparent it is that he is scared to death of him. And with good reason.

The reason we will win is because we will have this vetting process where the candidates will fight each other until the strongest on emerges.
The Dems on the other hand will coronate her thighness without ever laying a glove on her and our guy will tear her to shreds.
