"He's from the South, from the Deep South ... This is part of his cultural upbringing."
Whoopie's a fool - - there's nothing cultured about brutalizing and murdering dogs.
I guess what she was saying is that "it's a black thang."

The NAACP should be on her case over this. She’s insinuating that if you’re black, it’s perfectly natural that you’d abuse animals. Her idiotic statements paint the entire race with that brush.

“It’s the culture..”
Words by which we are to excuse every outrage that occurs along the downward spiral of black American society.

I read that Whoopie was a bag lady when she was 'discovered'.
If this is true - is she still practicing HER cultural upbringing?
She makes it sound like Vick has this disgusting habit bred into his genes.

We own a Farm about ten minutes from the so called House where the fights were conducted, rode by on Saturday and was stunned to see several other structures(one as big as my house behind the resident home. The buildings are painted black with black shingles, the building were constructed in a Pine Grove as to limit visibility from the road and sky. I took several pictures and it was until I put them on the computer that I noticed the structures. No intent there now was it. On Saturday, Michael and Marcus were int he town of Surry getting gas in the SUV and grabbing a bit of Country Store Food, does not seem to be any different from the last time I saw him in Smithfield. That's it from here.

I can believe it’s part of his culture. I can even believe that Vick didn’t think it was really bad. I can believe that Vick thought it was like gambling in an office pool, illegal, but who cares?
Even if all that is true, it in no way excuses Vick. Even if he thought it was ok, he was severly mistaken. And ignorance of the law is no excuse.
Let him do his time. And if he is so inclined, let him put this behind him.

I live in the north (Pittsburgh, PA) — dog fighting is common around here. It’s not a regional thing or a cultural thing — it’s a greed thing; it’s an animal cruelty thing.

A few years ago I saw Whoopi on the street. It looked like she was window shopping. I did not approach or speak with her.

I wrote about this
use of "culture" to explain away criminal deeds a while back. Nothing has changed it seems.
According to some, it was the "culture" in the halls of power that led to several lawmakers being indicted for allegedly accepting bribes. It was also the long standing "culture" in the Tennessee Highway Patrol that explained the practice of getting moved up the ladder by giving money to certain lawmakers. Actually, one can use "culture" to defend just about any type of behavior. News reports of "honor killings" in certain countries, where family members slaughter one or all their daughters, is explained at part of the "culture" in those parts of the world. So is the practice of chopping off heads of the infidels by terrorists ... it's part of their "culture."
In fact, "culture" is being used more and more to explain just about every type of human failing or misbehavior.
It will be interesting to see how much more "culture" our culture will put up with in 2006.

Wait a minute! She’s right, it IS part of the ‘cultural upbringing’ of some people( not just the Deep South)!
It is part of the IGNORANT, LOW CLASS, THUGGISH-and yes, statistically mostly black, culture.
Dog fighting is part of being a black thug, it’s street-cred, it’s ‘real’.
She is perfectly illustrating how ‘normal’ too many blacks consider such cruelty. She’s admitting how numb, culturally,a huge number of blacks like Vick, are to cruelty and killing.
Poor or rich, it’s ingrained in the culture- and it’s understood, EXPECTED, and excused!
Now doesn’t the high crime rate among blacks make perfect sense?

This is self created, engineered hype by the View - they play the free press/advertising game better than anyone in the business.
They replaced one shocking, attention demanding lightning rod with another.
It works - everyone’s talking about it, and it makes the news.
