Oprah's Couch For Obama Only
The Washington Post ^ | 9/5/07 | Matthew Mosk

Posted on 09/06/2007 9:09:50 AM PDT by Texas2step

Oprah Winfrey may be getting behind Barack Obama's presidential campaign with vigor this year -- she'll raise $3 million for him when she holds a fundraiser at her California estate on Saturday.

It means she'll be wading into the political world as never before. In 2000, she had Al Gore and George Bush for guest appearances. And California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has dropped by her couch....

..........................................

This year, she says, Obama will be the lone presidential candidate to grace her studio. "If everybody knows I'm for Barack it would be really disingenuous of me to be sitting up there interviewing other people as though... pretending to be objective. So I won't be doing anybody because of that, on my show."

What scares me is that so many people blindly accept whatever Oprah says, without critically questioning it. She’s been caught having some pretty worthless ‘experts’ around, and doing psuedo-reporting that is flat out crap. But because she’s a talkshow host, she’s able to pretty neatly skirt the criticism. This just makes her dangerous, a point I’ve gotten an Obama supporting liberal to agree on!

I was just joking about Bill so I could remember his old saxophone trick. How everyone loved his talent! She has no hat tricks.

Hillary's lead over Obama is so great that there is no way that Oprah's sheeple support is going to put him over the top. Obama's "youth" vote is very vocal but their turn-out has been weak historically and their numbers may be lower than the press declares. Likewise his seemingly limitless numbers of small-dollar donors may be overplayed. However, he would be a real challenge in 2016 if he continues on the same learning curve.

I was very concerned that she would make him VEEP, thereby insuring black turnout in November. However, I think that their animosity has gone too far and it would be next to impossible to put him on a ticket. Shortly after his trip to Iraq with her, Evan Bayh said that he wouldn't be a candidate for President. I think on that trip she might have already offered him the #2 spot. He's a moderate white male, media savvy, from a red state. A real balance to her. She needs everything Gore got plus one state and Indiana would fit the bill perfectly.

Yes, it’s scary. And people who don’t think she has racial issues just have to remember the incident when they wouldn’t let her into the Herme’s store in Paris...we never heard the end of it.

That seems like a very wierd way to do the “equal time” stuff.

Why would they prohibit showing re-runs of Law and Order? Certainly a candidate appearing as themselves on Oprah is much more “helped” by that than Thompson being seen as a character on a TV show.

I understand the exemption for news shows, but not for entertainment interview shows.

Because she never lies to them, and when she does she’s good at blaming someone else for it.

But, the black community tends to despise Clarence Thomas and Alan Keyes. The instinct seems to be to support a black person no matter what, unless he happens to be a conservative-minded “Tom.” I don’t know why the community tolerates that attitude—the attitude that, “You’re black, and that means there is only one way to think, and you better think that way or else!”

She single handedly caused hunderds of thousands of copies of Anna Karenina to be sold in 2004. It probably sold more in that year than in the previous 30 years combined.

Both of them to me look like they should be completely unelectable, but I cannot overestimate the intelligence and wisdom of the American sheeple...

I wouldn't get too comfortable. We've got the worst slate of candidates since '96 at least.

One can only hope that Oprah and others who lean to the left can raise up enough support for Obama to knock the PIAPS out... It’s going to take a lot of work to keep the bitch from winning. Even within the inner circles of the DNC people are holding their noses and giving into the Clinton blackmail tactics - “you owe us, we’ll cut off your funds if you don’t back her, etc..”

We all need to start sending Oprah information on Bubba and the Hildebeast. If we could convince her what odious human beings they are, maybe she would try harder to make sure the PIAPS doesn’t get the nomination.

I would love to see Oprah do a special on “The Women Bill Clinton Has Abused”... Imagine them all on in a show and that reaction across the country.

Dreaming I know, but I still think it’s worth sending Oprah information and seeing where it goes

Ha. Underestimate the O at your own peril is right.

But the sad truth is that the Democrat party is generally pretty racist and they’ll not nominate Obama Hussein, ever.

I’ve had many a dyed-in-the-wool liberal democrat use the worst racial slurs you’d never want to hear.

It’s called self-promotion. I’m so sick of hearing about Oprah this and Oprah that, and I’ve never watched her program. Egads!

I bet Oprah would like to steal Obama away from that sourpuss he’s married to.

I think she's trying to get to Obama Hussein's sourpuss wife.

That was bad. Forgive me for that Lord and help the starving pygmies in New Guinea

I think she should give her support to Tyler Perry as a write-in candidate.

What scares me is that so many people blindly accept whatever Oprah says, without critically questioning it.

This is completely indicative of our current culture. So many people rely on people like Oprah to tell them what to think and how they should act. Very scary that this woman has so much credibility among the general population...

In the middle, between the picture of Craig and Obama:

“FLASH: Stevie Wonder is the entertainment at Oprah’s Obama party, sources tell DRUDGE.... Oprah is having a post party dinner for 200... and her favorite Ethiopian chef, Mollie, will cook... She is inviting her friends to come early and meet Barack and his wife... The most successful fundraisers on the finance committee will also be there, for some face time with Oprah... Developing...”
