Del. L. Scott Lingamfelter Endorses Fred Dalton Thompson for President Views Former Senator as Most Persuasive Conservative Candidate

Woodbridge—Delegate L. Scott Lingamfelter (R-31 – Prince William and Fauquier Counties) today endorsed the presidential candidacy of former Tennessee U.S. Senator Fred Thompson, who formally declared his candidacy last night on NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

Lingamfelter, a retired US Army Colonel and combat veteran is very concerned that the Republican Party has drifted from its Reagan principles. “I believe that Senator Thompson is a true Reagan conservative who holds out the promise to get this country back on the track of lower taxes, more freedom, and greater opportunity,” stated Lingamfelter.

“Ronald Reagan had three basic objectives: a strong national defense, lower taxes, and less government,” said Lingamfelter. “Senator Thompson is speaking to those issues and as he does, Reagan conservatives like me are paying attention.”

“Our Founders were concerned about the rule of law, the right to possess private property, and a common American identity. You have to ask yourself, are we closer or further away from those ideas? I think we are much further away. Thompson can get us back on track,” Lingamfelter remarked.

Lingamfelter, a strong proponent of cracking down on illegal immigration, thinks Thompson will take a no-nonsense stand on this as well. “We need to enforce our laws and secure our borders. Stop talking about it, just do it. I think Thompson will be a true leader on this issue,” said Lingamfelter.

Lingamfelter also stated that he would make himself available to the Thompson campaign in Virginia. “I think as a southerner and a plain-speaking common-sense conservative, Fred will be a super-star in Virginia,” said Lingamfelter. “I want to campaign for him as vigorously as I can and spread the message that Virginia is Fred Thompson country.”

Well, I was looking at supporting some congressman with ornery supporters, but if Lingamfelter is on Fred’s side, then I just might have to reconsider...

Well Scott, nice of you to just jump right in here, but don’t hold your breath on becoming ‘Vice President Lingamfelter’ for this.

Well Delegate L, was Fred working for Reagan in the 1976 or 1980 primaries?
