Underdog Paul Inspires Political Passion

Avery Knapp is typical of the Paul Web supporter. A 28-year-old radiology resident, Knapp describes himself as a lifelong conservative who voted for President Bush in 2000 before growing disillusioned with the Iraq war and federal spending.

Bush "did nothing but increase the size of government. The Republican Party needs to move back to its core principles," Knapp said. Many Paul supporters share Knapp's disdain for what he called a "neo-conservative clique" and hope Paul can spark a Goldwater-style insurgency.

At 46, Kevin Leslie has never bothered with politics. After watching an interview with Paul during his 1988 campaign as candidate for the Libertarian Party, Leslie told himself, "If this guy ever runs for president again, I'll back him."

Paul did, and Leslie was good to his word, starting a prominent Paul blog in February and traveling to the recent straw poll in Ames, Iowa.

Ron Paul’s vision is of an America that is defenseless against islamists who want to kill us or make us their slaves. Sharia is not the freedom the founding fathers had in mind.

Indeed, sharia is not what the founders gave us... but if you actually believe those lies about Dr. Paul, I do have some beach front property in Arizona that might be of interest to you... and a slightly used bridge or two in the San Francisco area. Because that’s ALL that crap is, is outright lies. The lies have been debunked so many times I have stopped counting... yet some moron is always ready to come by here and post the same old same old over and over again.

You’re a n00b. Please try real hard to come up with something different, before you get too hooked in with the morons, goreons and other idiots that post that same tired bunch of lies about Dr. Paul. If you disagree with him on something, point out, using reason and logic, where you think he’s wrong and why. Name-calling, lies and all the usual Barbra Striesand of the anti-paulites, do NOT constitute reasoned debate.

ummm, isn’t Barbra Streisand rabid and frothing at the mouth against the ‘evil zionist neo-cons’ just like Ron Paul in NH ?

i smell something too, and it isn’t Barbra Streisand.

seriously, if Ron Paul is your candidate, then defend his perfomance re: Paul v Huckabee 09-05-07

his (RP) policy is to vacate iraq immediately aka cut & run. do you support that policy, and if so why ?

if you don’t, then why support Ron Paul ?

isn’t this a conservative website ? are you lost ?

I see the usual suspects are spamming the thread again... *yawn*

I notice they're quoting their own spam from previous threads again. What sad little lives they lead. They feverishly pore over fresh articles, desperate to find and post their spammy posts at the top of RP threads, like it's their mission in life. Sad, sad, sad. It's like some mental illness or a cult really. And their own candidates are so lucky to have them as supporters. LOL.

You suppose any of them even give money to their candidates, let alone do anything in supporting their candidates even remotely comparable to what RP's supporters do? I can't even picture it. I think actual conservative activism frightens some of the bot types. As though the best way to elect their candidate or a GOP president is to get drunk and post one-liners at FR.

Without leaders like Paul and Tancredo, the political landscape would be an insufferably blander wishy-washy fraudulent slurry of “Rudy -Mc- Romney”.
...And who needs more of that?

I don’t see him as a Rino and he believes in the Constitution. I just believe he is wrong about the war.

This was a conservative website that stood against nation building wars and democracy exports at gun point. It was a website that respected Ron Paul when he spoke out against Clintons nation building actions in Somalia, Kosovo and the Balkins.

I'm not sure what it has morphed into in the 9 nine years I've posted here...Some kind of neocon arm of AEI?

Don’t wet your bed in fear of cave dwelling nutcases with no army or military to speak of when you retire tonight. Better yet...Dream of these backassward nomad terrorists storming the beaches at Malibu. Because that is the only place such an event will happen. In your dreams.

His policy is to get our troops out of Iraq. Even according to Bush, we celebrated “mission accomplished” a couple years ago, actually only several months after the war started. Why are we still there, getting our troops killed to no purpose or court martialling them for doing the job they’re trained to do? I spent my adult life in the Marine Corps, even going to one war that we were not allowed to win, and for much the same reasons or lack thereof as we have for this, No Win War III. If we were not allowed, FROM THE FIRST, to fight it as an actual WAR, and fight to win, then why bother? Now it is a nation-building exercise, the same thing we, here on FR for longer than six months, tore up Billy Jeff Blythe about when HE did it. But I forget, the current guy has an (R) by his name so that makes all the difference.

And I support Dr. Paul for the simple reason that HE has his priorities straight: defend this nation and our Constitutional Republic from ALL its enemies, even those who would tear up our Constitution and give all our liberties over to big government, just because they don’t know what else to do. Remember, there is no terrorist in the world who can take away our freedom and our country... only we can do it to ourselves... and too many of you are too willing to give MY liberty away along with your own.

And, yes, this is a CONSERVATIVE site. Dedicated, according to its founder, to conserving our Constitution and the Republic the Founding Dads gave us. What do YOU want to conserve? Besides big government, I mean...

Actually, it isn't.

Paul said the single dumbest thing I've ever heard in a presidential debate last night. He said that our response to 9/11 should have been to return to individual liberty.

Now, I'm as libertarian as most (as far as economics is concerned anyway), but I'd sure like to know how Paul thinks we should use "individual liberty" as a weapon against Jihadist suicide bombers and airplane hijackers.

"HALT! I command you to drop that box-cutter, in the name of Milton Friedman!"

We won the War...The people cheered and stood behind Bush 90%. Then came the Nation Building Police Action...The people booed, loudly, and stand behind Bush 29%.(up 3% on surge..now dropping again.)

Reduce our enemies ability by bombing em till their rubble bounces...this includes Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia Afghanistan and yes, parts of Pakistan. Target the wealthy Sunnis who finance Al-Qaida and the wealthy Shiites who finance Hezbollah ...Then watch the Qaddafi effect...Then return to base...park the planes and repeat when necessary.

Disallow any and all immigration to this country from any Muslim country. Deport all non citizen Muslims and keep as close an eye on the remaining ones as well as we did the Japanese American in 1942. Secure our borders.

Putting ground troops in these countries to institute democracy is a fools errand and will result in one long quagmire.

Even if successful, the newly empowered democratic Arabs will elect the Muslim fundamentalist entities that are our enemies.

HALT! I command you to drop that box-cutter, in the name of Milton Friedman!"---

"And this .357 magum that I am freely allowed to bear".

In 1965 I could board a plane with one. The government removed that right from me and everyone else.

THAT is what Ron Paul meant.

And if fedgov had not systematically disarmed every LAW-ABIDING person who flew, 9-11 would never have happened. If just ONE PERSON on each of those flights had been armed, we would not even be having this discussion. We would have had 19 dead or captured WANNABEE hijackers and that would have been that. (Bear in mind that these were not BOMBERS, as such, but wannabee martyrs who wanted to do what they did.) A return to individual liberty is just EXACTLY what the doctor ordered! I wonder why you say it as if it were a BAD thing...

Then why does RP want to withdrawl from Iraq "where terrorists
are flocking to be killed"?

Better yet...Dream of these backassward nomad terrorists storming the beaches at Malibu.
Because that is the only place such an event will happen. In your dreams.

Exactly, in your dreams. Terrorists don't attack in such a manor.
But a weak government emboldens them to fanatical freedom in America.
You know, Ron Paul style of weakness and cowardliness.
