I have a mom and pop operation about 50 feet from my kitchen door.

BTW...there's nothing better than fresh hot cracklings on a cool fall day.

I hate to admit it, but I'd never heard of pork cracklings before today. Looked it up on Wiki, and now I want to try them -- sounds really good! Unfortunately, I live in NYC, so finding them probably won't be easy; even when I'm snacking on Cheez Doodles or the like I get glares from some people like I'm clubbing a baby seal. Yummmm...seal cracklings! :-)

“Sounds like a tin foil compendium.”

Yep. Just take a look at this gem:

“Air fresheners contain cancer-causing chemicals. Unleashing them in the house exposes children to these chemicals, promoting asthma and other respiratory problems. If you value the health of your children, avoid air freshener products and just use essential oils or citrus peels instead. (Peel an orange and hang the peel in your kitchen.)”

OK.

1) Name the cancer causing chemicals. He doesn’t.

2) Please show that the dose of these cancer causing chemicals is above safe limits. No mention. (Remember - many things are good in the right does. Spinach is a great food, but poisonous if you eat too much. Should we include SPINACH on his list as an item that we give to our kids that contains poison???)

3) Provide the name of several peer reviewed studies that demonstrate the danger you describe. Waiting...

Quack.

Go to a specialty meat store and ask for pig skin, than take it home and deep fry it. I like mine with tons of Sriracha hot sauce.

The stuff you can buyat the store (at least in the mid-west) is a poor substitute for the real McCoy. The commerical stuff is sorta like eating styrofoam - lots of air and no taste. Homemade crackings are chunks of pigskin carved up, covered with salt and thrown into a kettle of boiling lard. That’s good eatin’.

How would phosphoric acid dissolve your bones if it doesn’t even touch your bones going through the digestive system?

You’re going to have to try harder than that to get me to quit diet soda.

Yeah, makes you wonder. I agree with everything he posted but at the same time, we are living longer. Go figure.

I love this site - I learn so much here every day! Looking up Sriracha sauce led me to Thailand, and then to the Scoville scale of hotness in chili peppers; my favorites are way up there on that scale. I’ll try the Sriracha, but then I’d probably up the hotness and add some Habaneros - I do like spicy! :-)

BTW, great tagline! Bacon is one of the greatest foods on earth, and even better wrapped around shrimp.

I used to dip my fingers in liquid mercury in science class. So did all my classmates. Not a one of us has suffered any ill effects after nearly 40 years.

If you were all 5% dumber from mercury-caused brain damage, how would you know?

I’ve had a mouth full of “silver fillings” since I was about 12 years old — that is, until water became fluoridated and my cavity career fell off the cliff. Now I’m 64 and I haven’t even died yet.

And I’m not scared of dying from all those “better living through chemistry” chemicals either. Non-fluoridated water that the kids are drinking in those plastic bottles can account for a rise in tooth decay. And just to save money, I’ve even seen moms put tap water into the bottles so they can still make it look like they’re buying spring water.

But the most serious piece of misinformation that this author has included is the antidepressants. New research — just released yesterday shows a markedly increase in suicide since the “black box” warning on the SSRIs. If it were my kiddos, I’d rather take the risk than having a child untreated for depression which, to me, is completely irresponsible.

I’ve worked with suicidal kiddos and believe me, the SSRIs get them stabilized so they stop thinking about suicide and don’t exhibit symptoms of depression.

I don’t reckon we would but 4 of us graduated medical school, three are lawyers, with a smattering of nurses, CPA’s and businessmen.

1. Mercury fillings

ZOMG! You know what else?!?!?!? Water is composed of 2 explosive gasses!!!! Hydrogen and oxygen! Drain the oceans or we're all gonna die!

Some of his other observations do have merit however.

3. Hot dogs & 19. Bacon Sodium Nitrate has not been proven to be carcinogenic in humans, I’m not saying it isn’t, just nothing conclusive so far. Besides, it beats the hell out of botulism.

MILK?

Children need fat in their diet. In moderation, of course.

As for the hot dogs... aren’t kosher hot dogs considered safe?

9. Fluoride in the water

The fact that doctors and dentists so vehemently support it demonstrates just how crazy they really are.

I bet the irony of that statement is lost on this kook.
