Being elected to the House of Representatives is scarcely a quality that makes a national leader.

Well, you're right about that...but my post spoke more to his popular appeal in his home district than anything else. The people who keep voting for him back home are not the fringies that many Freepers make them out to be.

Still, I believe that most of the Paul support is that most opposed to GWB.

Not GWB in particular, just big government advocates in general.

Republicans have enjoyed the last six years with as much power and influence as they've had since McKinley was shot, and still the government keeps growing, the budget's out of control, and there's no sign of any of the old Republican distinctives being pursued or even getting lip service.

And those of us who rightly regard government with a jealous and jaundiced eye, in the tradition of Jefferson and Adams, are painted as loonies by the very party that should be agreeing with us. Where is the justice in that?

That, IMHO is the post of the week, considering the context it maybe one of the more reasonable posts on a Paul thread...

Grown ups. That’s the key. I am glad they are still in charge when the kiddies go back to the Trek Convention...

Oops. Really, really big of you to admit that. I'm so impressed.

So is telling the truth such a rare commodity on this board that you have to be impressed when it happens?

Maybe you prefer defamation?

When I think of “W”, I don’t think of the troops at all. I think of Ramos and Compean.

I was just so overwhelmed. So amazed that after slandering someone, you admitted it was wrong.

I stand corrected. It's probably par for the course for you.

A mere turn of speech.... To be “on the side of the angels” is to be on the right side of an issue; Ron Paul opposes the Patriot Act, which is unconstitutional under the 4th Amendment. He is therefore on the side of the angelson the Act. I am honestly surprised there is so little support for Paul in a supposedly Conservative forum. Afer all, it WAS Geo. Washington that warned against ‘entangling foreign alliances’...

MR. WALLACE: So, Congressman Paul, and I’d like you to take 30 seconds to answer this, you’re basically saying that we should take our marching orders from al Qaeda? If they want us off the Arabian Peninsula, we should leave? (Laughter.)

REP. PAUL: No! (Cheers, applause.) I’m saying — (laughter) — I’m saying we should take our marching orders from our Constitution. We should not go to war — (cheers, applause) — we should not go to war without a declaration. We should not go to war when it’s an aggressive war. This is an aggressive invasion. We’ve committed the invasion of this war, and it’s illegal under international law. That’s where I take my marching orders, not from any enemy. (Cheers, boos.)

-----------------------------

Thank God for Ron Paul, and a pox upon the snickering juveniles.

The entire Ron Paul Interwebs phenomenon is the product of one Ronnie Finkelmann, a fifteen year-old convicted hacker who lives in his mother's basement in south New Brunswick, NJ.

I notified Ronnie Finkelman and you are his next target. LOL.

Thou shalt not reveal the name of the blessed Finkelmann.
