I believe that scientists can tell whether blood samples came from a live person or a dead one. If there were blood samples from Madeleine in the rental car, and the samples were from a dead person, then the her-sister-wore-her-old-shirt defense won’t cut it.

To make this stick, one must assume they hid body for 5 weeks while everyone was looking for her, in Portugal, in Summer, in place where body did not smell, then transported her while everyone was watching them.

25 days, not 35 days.

Bodies that small can be wrapped very tightly in plastic and can be transported quite easily.

Not everyone was watching them - the police were focused on other suspects and the press had subsided somewhat by then - they were not being watched around the clock, but came and went as they pleased after the initial week of publicity. At that point the press were more interested in trying to squeeze every last detail from the police and shadowing the various suspects whose names came up.

I believe that these forensics were done by the Brits.

The whole world is watching the McCanns, and the media dog their every step, so the Portugal police had nothing to lose by letting the McCanns go back to England. It was smart of the police to let them go for now. If the McCanns fight extradition — and the lawyer they’ve retained is an expert at that — they’ll just look guilty.

If this is actually what happened, the parents must have Mensa level intelligence. I wouldn't have a clue on how to hide a body for FIVE weeks and then dispose of it sight unseen in a FOREIGN country.

I think you’re wrong about that. I don’t think blood completely degrades in just a few weeks. Corpses usually still have fluid in them for months.

I have wanted to stay neutral during what has been developing. But,I can not dispose of the thought of the parents leaving such little critters alone,”To do lunch”NO MATTER”how far away they were.I have read all sort’s of “Stuff” about this and that, but if they sedated them in any way ,I am saying if,there can be no excuses. No excuses period. They left them alone.I could not imagine leaving any of my Grandchildren alone while in my care.I,with all my heart, pray they are still with us and will till I know otherwise, they are.

The British newspaper “The Sun” is reporting that the DNA test is suspect ..... and they’re like 10 hours or so ahead of the West coast (or behind, whatever, it’s later there than here).... so maybe our MSM will catch up .....

Well, if it WAS blood as others have said, it would suggest that during those 5 weeks, she was NOT DEAD.

Every one keeps saying it was 5 weeks. It was 25 days not 35 days.

If she had been dead for 5 weeks, there’d be no blood to be left in the car.

That's isn't necessarily true or even probable. A lot depends on storage as well.

Good mercy....these parents have got to be monsters!

So you know they committed a crime?

Shouldn't you contact the authorities with your evidence?

gee, what if they accidentally rented the car originally rented by the real killer?

If the rental car agency has a small fleet and is the closest one to the hotel they stayed at, and the resort is in a rather remote town with few rental agencies, this is a reasonable possibility.

But more likely the Portuguese police are covering up their sloppy investigation. If this DNA evidence is so damning of the parents, it should pass muster of independent review. I bet the police retract this claim real quick once they are asked to show the details.

It’s possible someone abetted the McCanns after the fact. I’ve always thought the friends who were with them the night Madeleine disappeared knew more than we’ve heard about. Also, it’s possible the McCanns bribed a lowly hotel worker to help stash the body someplace. It’s also possible — and this is ghastly — that the McCanns undressed Madeleine before disposing of the body, perhaps to make it less likely she could be identified. (Bodies decompose faster than clothes disintegrate.) Perhaps the McCanns were not able to get rid of Madeleine’s clothes, or the blanket they wrapped her in, the night she disappeared. Perhaps those clothes or blankets had DNA on them and were put in the rental car trunk weeks later.

Well, they do have a featured picture of a topless girl on the third page of every edition - so I breathlessly await their august opinion.

Presumably because they did not find the sister's or mother's DNA in the trunk but only Madeleine's - and a susbstantial amount at that.

Sorry, guess I didn't make myself clear. What I meant was that Maddies DNA could get into the trunk without Maddie being there because it would logically be on Kate's clothes and Maddie's clothes that are now being worn by her sister. But they claim what was found could only have come from Maddie. I am curious as to how they determine this.

What I meant was that Maddies DNA could get into the trunk without Maddie being there because it would logically be on Kate's clothes and Maddie's clothes that are now being worn by her sister.

But then you would expect to find high levels of Kate's DNA and Amelie's DNA as well.

But they claim what was found could only have come from Maddie. I am curious as to how they determine this.

Because Madeleine has radically different DNA from Kate and significantly different DNA from Amelie.

DNA experts auditioning to be on the McCann defense team already have issued general cautions regarding DNA evidence. Expect to hear from many of these people during the next few weeks.

I don’t suppose it’s possibly coincidental that the car had previously been rented by the kidnappers and later rented by the parents?
