Representative Tom Tancredo (R-Littleton) today blasted a new plan by Sens. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Diane Feinstein (D-CA) to attach pro-illegal immigrant riders to the Defense Authorization Bill.
Piggy-backing amnesty legislation onto a defense bill is completely unacceptable and a slap in the face to Americans, Tancredo said. One would think the open-borders crowd had learned their lesson by now.
Senator Durbin, who in 2005 compared troops to Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime Pol Pot or others that had no concern for human beings during a Senate floor speech, is attempting to add a provision that would enable illegal aliens to access taxpayer-subsidized tuition benefits. Senator Feinstein is attempting to attach a provision that would provide a blanket amnesty to 2 million illegal aliens. The controversial provisions would be tacked on to a must-pass Defense Authorization bill.
In the letter, Tancredo asked Senate Democrat Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) to put an end to efforts in the Senate to attach any measures to unrelated legislation that would reward illegal aliens with amnesty or allow them increased access to publicly funded benefits.
Using a military bill when we have troops in the field as a vehicle for trying to sneak these kinds of unpopular measures by the public would be a terrible mistake, said Tancredo. Providing amnesty or taxpayer funded benefits is bad enough but attempting to pass such measures on the backs of the military would be perhaps the most cynical attempt at parliamentary gimmickry in recent history. The American public and the military deserve better.
Tancredo should be asked to intro a Constitutional Amendment to ban the problem of anchor babies. Such an amendment would sail through the Congress, and the states’ ratification process, like a nuclear-powered wave-rider.
Keep in mind that the 26th amendment-—to give 18-year olds the right to vote——passed in three months 10 days. That was way back in 1970 (and without the power of the i-net behind it). Let’s get it going now..........let ‘er roll.

I hope it does not have to come to that, but being September now we should start thinking of this alternative scenario, Freepers.
” Tancredo fricking owns this issue. “
Unfortunately true, since so few Rep. senators have spines. I’ve told the Sen. Rep. committe to go to blazes, I’ll support individual conservative candidates at the primary level, and not see a dime of my cash go to RINO senators.
Tancredo needs some bumps and pings here.
Amnesty nonsense is being snuck in.
..A BUMP for our buddy, The Tank...

This issue sounds like a good one for us to write letters to the editors about. It surely won’t come out where it belongs, above the front page fold!
Do not let this happen!

The RATS are going to try to slip the destruction of our country through one piece at a time.
I was gonna say “Bush would veto it” but after doing a little research, it seems the POTUS has no say in the matter of Constitutional Amendments.
You are right on, this is exactly what we should be pushing hard right now. I’m not entirely certain that we could get 2/3 of the senate though but our best best is to ratify right now during this coming election year when the politicians will be at their most receptive.
Ping!
