The scary thing about vouchers is when the government starts giving money to private schools, that gives them to right to start telling the private schools how to run their programs. Making private school tuition a tax credit or deduction would be much better, in my book.

He said his daughter broke into tears when she talked about Brooks mentioning illegal wiretaps and other surveillance directed against innocent people.

The poor girl is 13 years old and he's got her crying over wiretapping? Can't kids just be kids anymore?

"After careful consideration of the facts of our current situation, I have decided to announce to everyone that I am no longer a citizen of the United States, but a free and independent member of the global community," it read.

Great. Then deport the guy. Above all else, remember that he cannot vote. I don't believe non-citizens can contribute to political parties either.

Further indication of the consequences of Schools of Education — the University Department that teaches the teachers — accepting the lowest GPA/SAT/ACT scores for admittance of all other schools except Journalism.

[Teacher] "who hates this country so much that he sent a letter home to his student's parents urging them to renounce their citizenship in the U.S. as he announced he was so doing."

Why not just accept that he has renounced his U.S. citizenship and deport him? I'm sure Castro, Kim, Assad, or the jerk in Iran would take him. Maybe even Canada would welcome him.

Did anyone read the article at the link "Mike Brooks"? That story is exactly the opposite of what is portrayed here. Somebody needs to do a little more research!

It seems this article is a "knee-jerk" reaction to a completely different truth.

an anti-American teacher in a public school in Chico, California who hates this country so much that he sent a letter home to his student's parents urging them to renounce their citizenship in the U.S. as he announced he was so doing.

If this clown was foreign born, I suggest setting him adrift in the gulf od Mexico with a month's provisions, and let him choose his paradise of choice.

If he was born in the US legally, it is more problematic. I would suggest a fund to get him a one-way ticket to the paradise of his choice on another continent.

There a local High School banned the U.S. flag from being displayed on articles of clothing.

The Flag Code and Flag etiquette instruct us that the flag should not be worn as clothing.

United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Section 176 - Respect for flag, Paragraph D:

(d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker's desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.

According to the flag laws of the District of Columbia and most states, the words "Flag of the United States" include any flag, or picture of any flag, in which the colors, the stars, and the stripes may be shown in any number which, WITHOUT careful examination or deliberation, the average person may believe to represent the Flag of the United States.

To be fair the North Carolina school is not just banning American flag but all flags

“Under a new school rule, students at Hobbton High School are not allowed to wear items with flags, from any country, including the United States. The new rule stems from a controversy over students wearing shirts bearing flags of other countries.”

This fool renounced his citizenship, so deport his sorry butt. I doubt that he has been issued a green card to stay and work here.

I became a teacher 25 years ago. I wonder if teachers of public schools are still required to take an oath, saying they would not undermined the constitution.

If they do, they can sack this guy for his comments.

The overwhelming majority of teachers are dedicated patriots. I come from a family of them. Only the bad ones make the news.
