As a Mormon, I just don’t like Mr Romney.

LOL...your Bishop might not excommunicate you for that heresy, but the apologists on this board will make you a "special" project for re-education.

Here they come!

Actually, if one could create a candidate with the features of Ron Paul’s libertarianism, and Rudy’s toughness on the war, then I would gladly vote for him or her.

Is there a reason you left out my name on that post?

When one cites a post honesty requires you repost it as is.

It may occur to you and other Thompson supporters to learn something about his health. When Thompson announced several months ago that he suffered from non-Hodgkins lymphoma, it was reported that he has been treated with the drug Rituximab.

Some research in the Physician’s Desk Reference (PDR), the standard source of information about drugs, reveals that this drug is “indicated for the treatment of patients with relapsed or refractory, low-grade or follicular, DC20-positive, B-Cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.” Mr. Thompson has revealed in a paucity of detail that he suffers from B-cell non-Hodgkins.

The “refractory” indication means that the cancer did not respond or is no longer responding to a previous treatment.
In other words, Mr. Thompson has received more treatment than he admitted to when he said he had received “some” treatment for his disease. His disease does not appear to be in some early, limited nodular stage that responds to radiation; it has progressed and become diffuse and must be treated with chemotherapy.

The other information voters should be aware of is that Rituximab is administered via an IV drip. Again from the PDR: “Rituximab is given at 375 mg/m2 IV infusion once weekly for 4 or 8 doses.” It apparently has a response rate for about half of patients that lasts, depending on the age of the patient and the number of doses, from about 6 to 12 months before the cancer can flare up again.

The dangers associated with administration of the drug can include severe infusion reactions, acute renal failure, infections, cardiac arrhythmias, and other complications. Common reactions include fever, chills, infections, nausea, lymphopenia, and various nervous system and respiratory system disruptions.

In short, Mr. Thompson has been or is being treated with a drug that must be administered over a period of time in the following way according to the PDR: “Use appropriate aseptic technique. Withdraw the necessary amount of Rituxan (Rituximab) and dilute to a final concentration of 1 to 4 mg/mL into an infusion bag containing either 0.9% Sodium Chloride, USP, or 5% Dextrose in Water, USP. Gently invert the bag to mix the solution.”

My aunt has been treated with chemo through IV for advanced breast cancer. She has a port in her body through which the drugs are administered. Does Mr. Thompson have a port? How many treatments has he required? When was his last? Six months ago? Twelve months ago? What side effects has he suffered? Subsequent treatments using this drug according to the PDR seem to diminish in effectiveness. What is the progression of Mr. Thompson’s disease?

My father suffered with non-Hodgkins for 10 years. You’re not hale and hearty and blooming with health for the duration of the disease and then suddenly one day it’s lights out. You deteriorate and the drugs stop working. The cancer becomes refractory.

I don’t vote for someone with this disease. I don’t care if he has a drawl and a pickup truck and he plays an admirable authority figure on t.v. That’s not enough in this day and age with the threats this country is facing.

Did Mitt mention how he wants to model America after Hezbollah?

Sadly, I am really starting to believe that. They did elect Clinton....twice.

What Mitt has proved, time and time again, is that the more his message gets out, the more people support him. Every time he spends money to get his message on the air in a particular state, he does very well in the polls. That's a Good Sign.

Don't count him out. When people get to know him and his platform, they love him.

I know you are right....again. The people in the states who have come to know him the best, like him the most. I am just shocked at the disconnect and the unwillingness to get informed around here. Disappointing to say the least.
