SAVANNAH, Mo. (AP) -- Two northwest Missouri men have been charged with making a rap video that threatens to kill police officers, harm a judge and rape a female police officer.

Police said the profanity-laced video, which has been pulled from the social networking Internet site YouTube, also threatens the destruction of a community.

Kenneth Darrell Black Jr. and Benjamin D. Stevens, both 20, face felony charges of making a terroristic threat, conspiring to commit second-degree assault with a gun against law enforcement officers, conspiracy to commit rape and tampering with a judicial officer.

They also face a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace. Both men were being held in the Andrew County jail Tuesday night on $100,000 bond.

Savannah Police Chief David Vincent, one of the apparent targets of the video, said he didn't know how far along the men were in the alleged plot.

"I'd hate to speculate," Vincent said. "We're still trying to dig into it, talking to witnesses."

Vincent said the video is an example of why there needs to be increased oversight of things that are put on YouTube.

"There was really no control," he said. "It's really sad."

It seems to me this case shows the opposite. It's very hard for teenagers and young "adults" to keep their mouths shut about anything. YouTube gives them a chance to brag about what they're planning to do, bragging that can give authorities the information they need to keep such individuals from executing their plans. Hence, watching what's being posted on YouTube is a very good idea; keeping it from being posted is a terrible idea.

I can’t access YouTube, but I wonder what makes this any different than all that other cRAP that has been sold as music over the years.

"According to a probable-cause statement, "

I'd like to know what these 'rappers' did before to make the cops take them seriously.

...I wonder what makes this any different than all that other cRAP that has been sold as music over the years.

I do too.

We won't be able to see the video, since they pulled it. Here's the last 3 paragraphs of the article:

"Mr. Black then goes on to state that if the police busts his party he will bust their nose," the probable-cause statement says. "Mr. Black then makes mention of the Country Club police and then states that he is heating up the grease as he makes a symbol of a gun with his right hand."

Vincent said the video is an example of why there needs to be increased oversight of things that are put on YouTube.

"There was really no control," he said. "It's really sad."

Sensitive cops and internet control. It's really sad, and really scary.

If these guys had done what they talked about, we would be asking why cops ignored the inflammatory video.

How is it "narrow minded" when a community identifies a threat and deals with it legally?

I went to high school with both of the “rappers.” I’m actually friends with kenny, but no one likes ben. Ben has been in trouble before, he just got out of jail on a $25,000 bond a few weeks ago. Kenny doesn’t really do anything bad, he hasn’t ever been in trouble with the law, either. It was just a video they were doing for fun. They took it WAYYYY TOO FAR though. Kenny just got out of jail yesterday because his parents posted his bond. Ben is still in jail, and won’t be getting out. Neither of them had any intentions of harming anyone. And with all the rappers now a days rapping about the same stuff, I think the only reason they got in trouble is because they mentioned names. But yeah, for kenny, this is just a case of him hanging out with the wrong people. . .hopefully he gets out of this alright and can learn who to trust i guess.

I doubt the charges will stick. An overt act must be made and talking ain’t enough. Smells like a f-U case that will eventually be dismissed. Doubt that they will win any good taste awards.

He needs to grown up and accept responsibility for his actions - and it’s not whom you trust, it’s who you choose to hang around with. My generation judges people on the basis of: Who they hang with, how they dress, how they speak and how they act. Want to be accepted, hitch up those stupid pants, stay in school, get a real job, be able to respond to a question with a statement that has a subject and a verb, show some respect for the property of others and let me see some manners. You don’t need designer label clothes, jewelry or hot cars. Never got in trouble before? I doubt it, more likely he has never been caught before. Parents need to give him a dose of Tough Love and not bail him out.

lol i said kenny isn’t a bad guy. Ben has been in trouble a lot, in elementry school he was sent to BCA (buchannan county academy) it’s a correctional facility for boys who are “troublemakers.” It’s about 10 miles south of savannah in st. joseph. He has also been in and out of jail quite a bit for being only 20. Ben is not a good person, and I agree that Kenny shouldn’t have been hanging out with him. I really don’t know why Caver doesn’t believe I know them. I graduated from the same high school as them, and in the same graduating class. I’m very good friends with kenny, but I’ve never had the urge to hang out with ben. I live in Savannah, MO right now. ANYWAYS, kenny really isn’t a bad person. He doesn’t do anything crazy bad or anything. lol drinking I guess, but there are probably less than 10 people I know that are 19-20 that don’t drink. and whoever was talking crap on kenny saying he needs to “get a job” and “do something with his life.” Kenny was starting his Junior year at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, he was doing something with his life. They were just having fun, and weren’t going to do anything, but like I said, there does need to be action taken against them somehow, because you can’t just run around threatening people like that. But $100,000.00 bond? That is rediculous for someone that had never been in trouble with the law. If I can remember correctly, O.J. Simpson’s bond was $120,000.00 for ARMED ROBBERY. This is FAR from armed robbery.
