Exclusive: Bill O'Reilly Ending Radio Show;MOVING ON
Radio Equalizer Blog Spot ^ | 9/19/07 | Brian Maloney

Posted on 09/19/2007 11:43:23 PM PDT by raccoonradio

*** EXCLUSIVE TO THE RADIO EQUALIZER ***

Though not yet confirmed by the man himself, top- level industry sources tell the Radio Equalizer that Bill O'Reilly is giving up his nationally syndicated radio show. We're hearing his last broadcast will occur sometime in December.

Carried by as many as 400 stations, the Radio Factor has turned in mixed results nationwide, with a strong performance in several major markets. It airs in most of the largest American cities, including Los Angeles, New York City and Boston. Kicking off in May, 2002, the show initially had about 200 affiliates.

With Rush Limbaugh as a direct competitor, however, it's nearly impossible for anyone to maintain much of a foothold in that early afternoon timeslot. If you're unclear on this concept, just ask Al Franken.

And with a great deal on his plate, including The O'Reilly Factor, his top- rated FOX News Channel program, maintaining that kind of load must be especially difficult.

What isn't yet clear is who will be taking over the program, if anyone, or whether it will simply be cancelled.

Incidently, there's a fascinating backstory here: just days ago, your Radio Equalizer asserted that O'Reilly was going nowhere and lashed out at his left- wing enemies at the Huffington Post for saying otherwise.

Based on information we had at the time, that appeared to be the case. But since then, according to industry insiders, the circumstances have changed greatly.

Over at the Huffington Post, FOX arch- critic Steve Young today apologized for saying O'Reilly would be leaving his radio show, but it appears he is guilty only of jumping the gun a bit. Steve may need to retract his retraction.

In the end, this move should give O'Reilly a better opportunity to focus on his nightly television show, which has always been far more important than the Radio Factor.

After the beat-down from FReepers, he has decided he’d “Rather” not make another on-air mischaracterization of an important audience segment. Now he will have more time for research.

Good riddance to a blow-hard, finger-in-the-wind, so-called populist.

It is my opinion, that BOR jumped his shark when he came to the defense of the lying traitorous John Kerry and critized the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth for revealing the TRUTH about Kerry....

Please note:
Contrary to his promise to BOR and the nation, Kerry has STILL not signed his SF-180 to release his military and medical records to permit a full assessment by UNBIASED INVESTIGATORS of HIS story versus the story of the SBVFT..

He also did NOT drag the SBVFT into court as he threatened to “clear his name”...
NOW, the Statute of Limitations have run out and he can no longer do so...
I guess this means Kerry’s name will NEVER be cleared of the charges of LIAR and TRAITOR...

The circumstances and consequences regarding Kerry’s trip to Paris and “negotiating” with the Communist North Vietnamese while we were still at war and Kerry was STILL and Officer in the United States Navy Reserve - have not been made public.. I suspect it led to a discharge of less than Honorary status — which was later “fixed” under Carter.

Yet, to this day -— BOR occasionally refers the the SBVFT with contempt and to Kerry with respect...

Screw BOR, and the hog he rode in on.

You’re lucky to get Maloney’s stuff on here. Usually FR regs prohibit blogspot websites from the main forum. Maloney need to get a real website. His radio equalizer schtick could really get a following, especially if Glenn Reynolds keeps linking to it like he did last Thursday, more than tripling the daily traffic.

Thanks for your talking points, and I agree. :)
Remember some time last year, Kerry said he was thinking of
setting the record straight about the Swifties? This was
2 years after the election, a great example of closing the barn door well after the horses have escaped.

Then of course came the botched joke, and he suddenly
stopped any talk of going after the SBVFT ....after all,
he knew he wasn’t running for prez now, so why bother?
Besides, we know why he didn’t go after them in ‘04:
they had solid evidence.

Nice fast response to them, too, John...waiting two
years after the election. Where was that strong forceful
speech where you denied their charges and offered
concrete proof that they were wrong? He had no case
against them and he knew it.

BOR has stopped faking that he’s Conservative and is losing the viewers as a result. I’m one he lost a while back.

Look, Kerry’s fighting back against the Swifties—
TWO YEARS TOO LATE! (From May of ‘06: “While many Americans have all but forgotten about the group, Kerry is fighting back. Many say this is yet another sign that he is considering another presidential bid.”)

Yup, that’s when I stopped watching him. BOR claimed to be neutral on the subject, but it quickly became clear that he was attacking the Swift Boaties and had no intention of stopping.

If you're unclear on this concept, just ask Al Franken.

I think Brian has it wrong in this story.

It's not so much Freaken was going against Rush as Freaken's show SUCKED! I'm talking deep space SUCKED!

I gave Air America the benefit of the doubt once and tried to listen to Freaken's show.

It was the worst 15 seconds of my life....

Oh yeah, right. Rush is the reason Franken flopped. Rush pulled all the moonbattery away from Air Amerika and converted them all to rock solid conservatives.
