Hillary Clinton proposes paying for half of her $1.1 trillion (over 10 years) healthcare plan through cost savings/modernization and the other half through higher taxes on wealthier Americans (those earning more than $250,000) by eliminating a portion of the Bush tax cuts. But it seems that the $50 billion or so in new tax revenue (assuming a static analysis that ignores any ill effects on growth from the tax hike) that Clinton is counting on is also being eyed by other some other Democrats for their pet projects.
As one Capitol Hill source reminds me: "Sigh, aren't presidential races fun? Charlie Rangel wants to use [the elimination of the Bush tax cuts] to pay for his AMT repeal/tax 'reform' plan." Now since reforming AMT is a top Democratic priority, someone is going to have to get his or her $50 billion a year from somewhere else—or even more, since it might take a while to capture the projected cost savings from modernizing the health system. think of all the special people in the democrat party who will jump the line and get instant care. it will be a wonder to see. (all the democrat commissars will be taken care of.)
To do this episode...she needs both the house and the senate. From what I can see...the Republicans will control one of these for sure (probably the house). So this episode will not occur during the four-year term of Hillary (she will trip herself up 300 times to ensure no second term). And thus the whole program is a fantasy for people to look upon and dream about. It will never occur.
You have to remember as well...that 50 percent of the senators amongst the Democratic party (especially southern senators)....dislike her entirely. She hasn’t really accomplished much in the time she has been a senator, nor has she built any strong relationships with most of the guys there. So even as president...she doesn’t carry enough weight to get much done. The plus-side of Bill...was that he could build a effort and get Democratic “teams” shifted to his causes...something that Hillary is totally unable to do.
Does she care?
Well, let’s see. If we eliminate all the military, Homeland Security, close the Pentagon ......
speculation about political possibilities is suited for normal times, but these are not normal times.
there are terrorists who wish to bring down the west with their willing accomplices in the u.s. congress.
leftists are actively affecting energy policy within the u.s., sowing the seeds of economic problems in the future.
a larger and larger part of the population sees salvation in socialism and consider themselves brilliant saviours of the world and more and more of them have custody of voting machines.
and..hillary! wants to eliminate the electoral college.

I've been hearing this mantra from pols my entire adult life. Not ONCE has this ever come true. Government is an inefficient, monopolistic, unionized beast immune from competitive market forces. There are NO SAVINGS to be had from government run anything.
