George Clooney breaks rib in motorcycle crash

WEEHAWKEN, N.J. -- George Clooney suffered a broken rib and some scrapes on Friday when the motorcycle he and a friend were riding collided with a car as the actor tried to pass the other vehicle, authorities said.

Weehawken Police Sgt. Sean Kelly said the collision occurred at 3:30 p.m. as Clooney and friend Sarah Larson were traveling north on Boulevard East and sped up to pass on the right a 1999 Mazda Millenia that was preparing to make a right turn.

Kelly said it is not known if the driver of the other vehicle, who has not been identified, had used his turn signal. Boulevard East is a narrow road with sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline.

"It's a he-said, she-said right now, but you can't pass on the right in Weehawken or anywhere in Jersey," Kelly said.

Kelly said the accident remains under investigation and no summonses have been issued.

The 46-year-old actor was treated at Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen and released, spokesman Stan Rosenfield said in a statement.

"He's doing fine," Rosenfield said. "He has a broken rib, it's very painful and it'll take a long time to heal."

Larson suffered a broken foot. Both she and Clooney were wearing helmets, Kelly said.

Clooney's latest film, "Michael Clayton," will be released next month.

OK, here goes — lets do the Barking Moon-Bat Six Degrees of Separation between the accident and GWB:

1. George Loony was hit by a Mazda Millenia.
2. The driver wouldn’t be in a Millenia if the CAFE
standards weren’t so low.
3. The driver would be on a bike, this George would have
run THEM over.
4. It’s all George Bush’s fault.

There — did it in 4 degrees.

Awww, boo hoo.

This isn’t breaking news for crying out loud. Go watch ET if this is what you consider news, but don’t post it here in breaking news.

Since it’s here and you like this stuff, The kid down the road fell off his bike and scraped his knee.
That’s every bit as important news as is news about some hollywirdo

Hurts even more when you break a bunch and poke one through a lung.
That’s when I quit smoking. It still hurts to lay on them almost 4 years later.

“Both she and Clooney were wearing helmets” Is this pre-programmed by the MSM to add this? They always point this out in cycle accidents.

I saw that bike at the Auto Show a couple years back. It was a very popular attraction amongst the crowd.

Although I despise the man’s politics I pray for a full and speedy recovery. I bruised my ribs and it is still slightly tender almost three months later! ------------------------------------------------- Jan. 29th, I was hit from behind by a Jap taxi driver at a red light (I was fully stopped.. for about 15 seconds) and I was driving a 50cc scooter (the only affordable drivers license here (to get anything bigger takes $3000 course!!). Broke 1 rib.... very painful, almost impossible to get up from a laying position. I am lucky that his passenger yelled at him the second before hitting me, "ktosukete!!" (many meanings, but the closest to this situation is, "take care!".) He swerved right and clipped me and my bike, knocking it (the bike only, not me) about 50 feet forward (he was at a high rate of speed..). When I and the taxi stopped, my head was against the front left wheel of the taxi... When I was in the states, I had a 600cc Honda, and would NEVER drive anywhere without a full faced helmet. Here, it is like a fashion statement to drive with a half (only covering the cranium (top part of the head)). I try to convince these idiots that their face can disappear in nano seconds (of course along with many other body parts... I wear a full protection suit now... but it doesn't make me invincible..) Darn.. what is my point?! WEll.. You can never be fully protected, especially when driving a bike, but you should at least protect as much as possible, no matter what the inconvenience. There are drivers out there that never see you. About this imbecile, I normally would not feel bad for him.. but he is still human and I know first hand how a broken rib feels... just wish it would grow him a brain. MJ

Forgot to mention that my “company” told me I had to go back to work in a week or I would lose my job... although the doctor said I had to have at least 2 months to recover.... and that the taxi company sent a taxi to my apartment every morning to take me to work... then from work to home every day until I got a new bike (4 weeks) @ about $300/day...
