In regards to Trade, we should never do business with a Country that holds their citizens in the chains of slavery.
I stole that from someone, you know?

I guess you would be saying that short term big time investors on Wall Street had an effect?
I also think that US environmental laws (along with cheaper labor) made it enticing to build factories over seas.

I’m happy that I occasionally manage to say something worth remembering. My wife doesn’t seem to think so, lol

We need to bring our factories home.I don't own any factories, so there's nothing for me to bring home. Do you own any? I assume you do, by your use of the word "we".

At one time we had factories here and people paid for product...... You see, back in those days, rich men would ride around in zeppelins, dropping coins on people, and one day I seen J. D. Rockefeller flying by. So I run out of the house with a big washtub and... hey! Where are you going? Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah. I used my washtub that morning to clean my turkey, which back then was called a 'walking bird'. We had walking bird on Thanksgiving with cranberry sauce, Injun eyes, and yams stuffed with gunpowder. We also sat around and watched football, which back then was called baseball.

Being an investment banker, what would happin (just say I was President right now. I know it is hard just hang in there), what would happen if I passed legislation relaxing environmental laws, gave tax breaks to companies who are building factories on US soil, and raised tariffs on Chinese made items to record levels?
And since I am President and dreamin here, how about I get legislation passed that eliminates income tax and places a National sales tax (with some exceptions on food items). Maybe we mix this bill with the factory bill and we make April 15th National Industrial Revolution day or something?
Just change the date to April 15th, everyyear.
While I am at it, I tell Iran that if they want nukes, I will happily air deliver them and I aint jokin'. I build a fence on the North and South Border. I invite PETA to all the White House BBQs. And I have the media banned for sedition. And early and often I appoint Judges who hate liberal ideals and values.

So as a service economy, and all turned into burger flippers, what, pray tell, would we use against an invasion from an enemy? Let me guess...a flipper made in China? A country that locks up it’s natural resources, and sends it’s manufacturing all overseas, is looking at an impending disaster. Not a matter of if, but when.

I sure believe that anything to do with our military should be built right here in the US by US Companies with US workers. Anything else, I can deal with out side of the country. But we only have one US Steal company left. We should have more then that for competition reason.

This is hardly Chinas fault. Either the parents are to blame for assembling the thing wrong, or the maker is to blame for designing it and/or writing the assembly instructions such that incorrect assembly is likely to occur. Exactly

A country that locks up its natural resources, and sends its [sic]
manufacturing all overseas, is looking at an impending disaster. Not a matter of if, but when.Yeah. Except that's not what we're doing. Turns out American manufacturing is alive and well. Not that any of the Lou Dobbs clones around here will believe it.
