Police in Norfolk, Va., are investigating whether an alleged attack against a 13-year-old boy that witnesses caught on tape Saturday was racially motivated, WAVY-TV reported Monday. The tape shows the victim, Damien O'Rourke, who is white, being violently beaten by a group of African American teenagers.

Yes, but the important thing is, did anyone display a noose? Then we'd be talking serious crimes.
It was absolutely amazing the names we were called just before they attacked us with glass bottles. We escaped with some nasty injuries but, it could have been a lot worse.

You’s so right. I saw Soledad interviewing the US Attorney doing her best to be an apologist for these thugs saying that the beating wasn;t so bad, the kid was out of the hospital in a couple of hours - no need to charge anyone..WTF?

This is easier to figure out if "African-American" is taken to be a culture, not a race. Not all blacks are part of the African-American culture. That is how people like Clarence Thomas or JC Watts can be excluded by African-American groups. This is why Bill Clinton could be claimed to be our first "African-American" president. You will find blacks in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Americas. Only in the US do many insist on being called "African-Americans". The group of thugs that beat this kid are definitely of the African-American culture.

They didn't refer to the victim's "culture" - there's no such thing as a "white culture".
What was it, 7 or 8 blacks against 1 white kid?
Then they video tape it?
The news is asking is this was racial?
What would give them their first clue?

I was stabbed on a city bus leaving my junior high school. The bus was packed full(I was the only white person)and I had an armload of books. Someone behind me knocked the books out of my arm and stabbed me in the leg with a thin knife (penetrated about 2 inches). I never even saw who did it. I just pulled the knife out, picked up my stuff and got off pronto. I stuffed a hankerchief in my leg and limped the 2 miles home. Incidents like that make a lasting impression.
I think that it's interesting that out of the small sample of people on this thread, that there are so many who have stories like ours. This means something, I think.
Looks like the PC-Cons have nothing to say about this one!
Around 2000 the state of California ceased to have any racial majority. Suddenly there was a rush to stop using the label "minority" because everyone is a "minority" in the state. The new phrase to champion was "people of color"...anything but white. All the BS about "minority" rights was always about official preferences for anyone who isn't white.
I predict another media circus with Al or Jesse coming to the rescue of the thugs...solely because they are black.

Waiting for ME to condemn it? Ok... it’s condemned! :) I don’t see anything “alleged” in regard to the video. I see a real attack, similar to one I suffered in the 1970s. I came out on top of that one though, and three “tough guys” learned the hard way, not to screw with geeky kids wearing glasses, whose dad’s hold black belts.... /g

So when does America’s wonderful black leadership come on television and tell us all, the white kid said something offensive and deserved it.
Then when they jail these 6 criminals, they’ll suddenly become the poor victims of a hateful word.

I remember our first "race relations" class at Travis Air Force Base in 1973, maybe a few months into '74, can't remember for sure.
We (whites) were lectured by the instructors that we needed to "understand" the black culture, their music, their manners of speech, etc.
I asked if they also needed to "understand" our music, culture, work ethics, etc.
I was told that wasn't the purpose of the training, in such a manner it was obvious, "sit down and shut up".
Being from northern Vermont and having only met two blacks before entering the military, I thought they were human like everyone else.
I soon found out different.
SOME are fine folks, who just happen to be black.
I am still keep in touch with some friends from that era who happen to be black.
I have a few friends now who happen to be black.
Having witnessed how many blacks can behave, especially when in packs, each one has to prove to me first he is a normal human before I can befriend him (or her).
When the majority of blacks figure out they are Americans like the rest of us and quit carrying this racism chip on their shoulder, we will befriend them.
All that being said, I wish Condi Rice would run for President, and pick Thomas Sowell as her running mate.
Now THAT'S a ticket I could vote for.
