"particularly when used by a white person"

What b.s. It's just as offensive when used by blacks, the double-standards continue to disgust me. fwiw, I am a "caucasian male" who has never uttered this slang word and never even considered using it. But I never would have heard of it (before Don Imus) had it not been for the prevalence of gutter rap and hip-hop long before Don Imus picked it up from such sources. Rappers, etc. pour this sewage into our popular culture until all kinds of offensive words become widely known and used, and then it's all the fault of WHITE people that such vulgar usage has become popularized? I call b.s.

True story, last week I was sitting in for an attorney whose client was named “Hough.” Not knowing if it was pronounced “Ho” or “How” or “Hugh,” I shouted “Is there a Ho in here?”

Luckily, no one answered.

IIRC, Imus repeated a description of the Rutgers womens NCAA basketball runner up team made by someone else.

Helpless? Hopeless? Heave-ho?

Isaiah Thomas should really focus on running the Knicks, and leave the stupid press conferences to GM’s with better basketball teams. He just might be the worst GM in basketball. Taking over endless giant contracts on washed-up players, has-beens and never-weres is no way to run a basketball team.

Ho--or should it be "hoe"? Sounds like the female counterpart of a rake.

It’s not “Isaiah.” It’s “Isiah.” Just like it’s “Dwyane” Wade, not “Dwayne,” “Antawn” Jamison, not “Antwan,” and “Micheal” Ray Richardson, not “Michael.”

"Huff", most likely. (Remember MLB knuckleballer Charlie Hough?)

Did Stevie buy the team? That would explain a lot.
