What a load of crap. Verizon knows they will get a lot of cancellations if people start getting pro abortion text msgs on their phones.

>>>>“This is right at the heart of the problem,” said Susan Crawford, a visiting professor at the University of Michigan law school, referring to the treatment of text messages. “The fact that wireless companies can choose to discriminate is very troubling.”

The issue here is a lot bigger than Abortion, it’s a question of the right of a carrier to control the political content of messages I CHOOSE to receive.

I am happy I have a verizon account for both my mobile and my PC Card!

Finally a major corporation does something right; (usually these days you only hear of bad things coming out of the corporate world..)>!

WOOOHOOOO — VERIZON! It is a start. I will call them (they are my carrier) and thank them for the start.

I had Verizon block all text messages to our phones.

Now that’s really interesting, considering that I just had Verizon disable my text function entirely (which I have almost never used), because I began to get unsolicited text messages, including being fraudulently signed up for a subscription to a joke-of-the-day service, all of which I would have been charged for.

Verizon told me that they didn’t have the capability to block messages from particular sources.

Naral provided copies of its communications with Verizon to The New York Times.

Naturally.

Good, but you know that the feminazis will itch and moan and Verizon will back down. Let’s see if a pro-life group can send messages!

Tech ping... a real-world example of why Net Neutrality is critical. Suppose Verizon’s politics leaned the other direction? Would you like to never hear from AFA or your church group again?

Verizon Wireless put out a statement today reversing the prior decision - they will now allow Naral's txt messages over their network.

“The decision to not allow text messaging on an important, though sensitive, public policy issue was incorrect, and we have fixed the process that led to this isolated incident."

You can read the entire PR piece HERE.

Nancy Keenan, Naral’s president, said Verizon’s decision interfered with political speech and advocacy.

What spin is this? It is NARAL who is trying to force Verizon to comply with their way of doing business.

Sorry NARAL, you don't own Verizon, and Verizon just told you to shove off!
