What is American Solutions?

American Solutions for Winning the Future is a new, non-partisan organization built around three goals: to defend America and our allies abroad and defeat our enemies, to strengthen and revitalize America’s core values, and to move the government into the 21st Century. The General Chairman is former Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Why are we holding Solutions Day?

On September 27 and 29 citizens have the opportunity to start the change in their government. They can choose to do it at the school board level, the city council level, the county commission level, the state legislature level, the congressional level, or the presidential level.

If you have an idea that you want to promote that is going to make life better for yourselves, your neighbors and your fellow Americans, this is your opportunity to get involved. It’s not often that one of these opportunities comes along -- this is the first of what we hope will be many. It’s time for citizens to take back their government!

Solutions Day is about you. This is your opportunity -- and it doesn't matter whether you’re a Democrat, Republican or Independent.
It's about you, your family, and your future.

What will happen on Solutions Day?

On September 27th, American Solutions General Chairman Newt Gingrich will outline the challenges facing our country and how to address these challenges through fundamental transformational change. At American Solutions, we believe real change requires real change.

You are invited to watch this opening presentation on the internet and on the Dish Satellite network (channel 219) and on DirecTV, (channel 577). If you miss the live event, you can always watch it on demand on the internet. Other live viewing opportunities may be announced at a later date.

We encourage you to gather with friends and organize events to talk about the ideas discussed in the opening presentation.

Then, on September 29th, American Solutions will host a series of workshops. Each workshop will be an hour long and moderated by civic leaders and issue experts on a variety of topics on how to transform government. There will be opportunities to ask workshop moderators questions and you will walk away from each workshop with practical ways to bring positive change to your community. The workshops will be broadcast on the internet and on the DISH Satellite network (channel 219).
Here are the main components of a workshop:

• Moderators: Nationally known leaders and experts that will guide the discussion on a certain topic.
• Hosts: Individuals that organize workshops in their community or home. Hosts will welcome participants to their location, offer a brief introduction, and help facilitate discussion on the ideas raised during the workshops.
• Participants: Individuals that wish to attend a workshop and collaborate on ideas.
• Locations: A workshop location could be a large group gathering at a public venue (college, church, community center, etc), three or four people in their living room, or an individual on their own computer.
• Selection: Participants can choose from six different workshops during each hour long segment. Hosts will help each location determine which workshop to participate in. For those interested in several topics, video of all the workshops will be available on American Solutions’ website after they conclude.
• Format: Each workshop will begin with a 20 minute presentation from the moderator, followed by a 20 minute question and answer session, and concluded by 20 minutes of action items and steps to apply the proposed solutions in your community. There will be 15 minute breaks between workshops.

When and where will Solutions Day take place?

American Solutions will broadcast the opening presentation on September 27 live from the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, and it will include special guests from around the country. The event begins at 7:00 PM EDT and will last 90 minutes.

On September 29th, we will be holding workshops at University of West Georgia in Carrolton, Georgia and other locations all around the country hosted by citizens such as yourself. The workshops will be an hour each and will go from 1:00 – 5:30 PM EDT.

All the events on September 27 and 29 will be broadcast live on the internet and DISH Satellite network (channel 219).

What can I do now to prepare for Solutions Day?

American Solutions General Chairman Newt Gingrich recently conducted a special training session for all workshop hosts on how to prepare for the September 29th workshops. Click here to view this training session.

You can also help us spread the word about Solutions Day by calling talk radio, sending letters to the editor, and writing op-eds.

All workshops listed below will be made available on the Internet in a Windows Media Streaming video player. Click here if you would like to run a "system test" to ensure that your computer meets the requirements to view the webcast.

If you would like to watch Solutions Day events with a group, we suggest that you find a venue that has the DISH Network or DirecTV satellite programming to be able to watch the events on a large screen.

You can also watch the events by renting or purchasing a video projector to show the webcast on a larger screen.  While the webcast window is ideally designed for personal viewing, you can double-click on the window to enlargen it to full-size to share with larger audiences using a video projector.

There are several ways you can participate in the Solutions Day events.

On both the opening presentation and the Saturday workshops, we encourage you to organize your community to watch Solutions Day activities at a public venue or a friend’s home.

If I could talk to Mr. Newt, I would tell him I think the big solution is Conservative Conservatism, instead of all these gimicky conservatisms, like Compassionate Conservatism or Green Conservatism or Surrendering to Mexico Conservatism, which are all really forms of liberalism or Cave-in Conservatism.

When Conservative Conservatism is employed it works and it is self-correcting so there are fewer solutions to need.

I heard about the website on FOX tonight (Hannity) just about 1 hour ago. So I thought I would visit the site. Too late however for the "live" event.

What I'm confused about is, while watching the "Solutions Day Opening Presentation-English" (In fact I'm still watching it right now, while typing this "reply" up ... b.t.w. - there's a Spanish version also), I was checking out the ".FIND a workshop near you", and using the zip code method and it lists four workshops for (too late) 9/27 7pm and 9/29 (can't, I have to take 11 girls to a movie for my daughter's birthday) 1pm, all of with the tag "(0 People Attending)". So then I put in the "big hammer" and search the entire state of California complete list . . .

. . . so I get like over 200 listings of workshops for the same two dates . . .

. . . and with the exception of the San Diego Workshop (4 people attending), Bakersfield Workshop (10 people attending), Los Angeles Workshop (9 people attending), Orange County Workshop (5 people attending), all the rest 200+ workshops are had "(0 People Attending)" ... zero ...

I was sort of thinking, some of the ideas on the web site look great (though it seems they want to promote legalization of drugs and the end of "The War on Drugs", which I don't agree with), my goodness, for the entire Los Angeles and San Diego you like only a dozen people attending? The first thought in my mind is, I would be embarrassed to even show up. And none of the workshops in the S.F. Bay Area had ANYONE attending, that is zippo, zero.

"We Need a Red, White and Blue Country" is the theme.

Which is part of the rising "Donkey with an Elephant Nose Sucks" thing, which isn't a bad idea ... but ... where is this going? A Third Party?

I suppose the idea is "No Party", We The People will have some "Corporate-like" presentations with splach overheads, and then... throught the ".net" ... we ... come up with the solutions ... with the help of solutions packs ...

This isn't a new idea, nor is it a bad idea. The operation is very slick, corporate like, it's like being at one of the Company's "Roadmap" presentations. But, my goodness, I sort of thinking ... who's attending?

Newt is really smart. He's a philosopher. Will he start a movement?

Well, I don't know, but I really don't think he's running for President. Because, I don't think, with his new image and all, he wants to drag up all that old "baggage".. Sure, I would be willing to get on board ... but, WHAT WOULD I DO?

I can STUDY the message.

I suppose.

Would I attend a workshop?

Not if it's only going to be me, and the "guy" running it, sitting at his kitchen table and then reading some stuff, and watching a corporate slick presentation video on the .net.

I like Newt, I like him a lot.

Good Luck, Newt. But, what I think we are going to end up with, if "the movement" is ever really going to "take off", well, whoever is going to do it, isn't going to be some corporate like CEO sort of guy or message. It's going to be some guy screaming, and stuff.

That's what it going to be, how it's going to happen.

It sort of, the way it is. Historically.

Even when some Pope comes along ... the one who really makes it happen is the screaming Pope.
