I’m no expert but it is the base material for fertilizer based explosives. You have to add some other stuff to it and detonate it properly.
Again, I’m not an expert and have no plans to make any of these. (for the carnivore people watching key words)

I think fertilizer is Ammonium nitrate.... the acronym is ANFO Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil.
From earlier reports, I thought the PVC pipe contained black powder or some similar off the shelf reloader explosive.
I don’t think potassium nitrate in and of itsself is expolsive.
I expect these guys badly underestimated the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department—they probably thought the cops arresting them were just a bunch of small-town Mayberry hicks. But if the car’s equipped with a dash camera (as so many are these days), it’s also going to be wired for sound inside.

You’re right, my mistake.
Now hang on just a minute there, my friend. Nowhere in this article does it say that these young gentlemen are Muslim. You can’t just jump to conclusions about their religion. For all we know they could be from any religion — Presbyterian maybe, or Hindu, or whatever.
The FBI still refusing to say these two are ‘terrorists’?
