WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday that every child born in the United States should get a $5,000 "baby bond" from the government to help pay for future costs of college or buying a home. Clinton, her party's front-runner in the 2008 race, made the suggestion during a forum hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus

Ahhhhhh socialism.

"We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."

"We must stop thinking of the individual and start thinking about what is best for society.”

"It's time for a new beginning, for an end to government of the few, by the few, for the few, and to replace it with shared responsibility for shared prosperity."

"We can't just let business as usual go on, and that means something has to be taken away from some people."

"We have to build a political consensus and that requires people to give up a little bit of their own turf in order to create this common ground."

"I certainly think the free market has failed."

"I think it's time to send a clear message to what has become the most profitable sector [oil] in the entire economy, that they are being watched."

"What I want to do is take those profits and apply them to alternative energy."

Karl Marx or Frederick Engels said none of these things; Hillary Clinton said them all.

"A secondary market in the bonds will quickly arise, whereby bonds can be traded for cigarettes, booze, whatever."

The exact hour in which any social giveaway is introduced, will be the same hour that it is abused. Guaranteed.

Are you kidding me?

That's how I feel about the whole prospect of Hillary Clinton as POTUS.

I’m donning my flame suit and going in.

Why didn’t we think of this first. The GOP is the pro-natal party while the Dems are the abortion party yet they come up with a pro-natal policy.

Ugh!

Flame away.

no, if this was GOP, it would be a 5grand tax credit, instead of outright handout.

Rarely have I seen electoral bribery taken to quite this simple and base a level. It’s almost impressive, in a twisted sort of way.

And that would be better

I never said he plan was perfect, far from it. Just that it was first and that irritated me.

Off topic a bit, but has anyone noticed that when an image of Hitlery or Ubama accompany an article it almost always projects them at a sllight angle looking off into the disatance as if they are viewing their subjects.

Now, if this idea does not show Hitlery to be what she really is, there is nothing that will.

The people she's taking the $5K from aren't the people she's pandering too.

Don’t we already have a per child deduction from the income tax (the value of which depends up income and other deductions and so forth)? That allows parents to keep more of their money than otherwise would be taken (mostly wasted) by the government. Under Hilary’s plan, presumably everyone would get the “baby bond”, regardless of whether one pays income taxes. So what she is talking about is (not surprisingly) nothing more than another transfer of wealth from those pulling the wagon to those carrying it.

I sure as hell don't get it. You have to be "pur" to get it.
