The Group Behind Smear Campaigns Against Limbaugh and O’Reilly
News Busters ^ | September 30, 2007 | Noel Sheppard

Posted on 10/01/2007 6:20:20 AM PDT by libstripper

Last week, two of the leading conservatives in the media, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly, were dishonestly and unprofessionally attacked by press outlets that cherry-picked out of context remarks from lengthy radio broadcasts in order to vilify outspoken personalities whose opinions they don’t agree with.

Unfortunately, as folks around the country saw this play out on their television sets and newspapers, few were at all familiar with the organization behind the smear campaigns, or that this same group started the firestorm which ended with radio host Don Imus being terminated by NBC and CBS in April.

Maybe more importantly, even fewer citizens are aware that this organization is linked directly to Bill and Hillary Clinton, as well as billionaire leftist George Soros.

For some background, John Perazzo wrote a column for FrontPage Magazine in July entitled “Media Matters: Hillary’s Lap Dogs,” that should be must-reading for all citizens interested in who's targeting America’s leading conservative personalities (emphasis added throughout):

Sometimes people forget that the founder of MMFA is David Brock who was once a hated and vilified conservative until he began writing an anti-Hillary book. During the writing of the book he fell in love with a Hillary staffer, who moved into his Washington DC home.

He has been a diehard leftist since. And the book he wrote ended up praising Hillary.

Brock is now the go-to-guy for anti-Republican slime.

I think he was converted during his Hillary book...the name escapes me. The reason being, he fell in love with a Hillary staffer (male). It should all be in the archives.

From about half way through the article, Brock's male paramour is identified:

During this period, Brock developed a close relationship with Neel Lattimore, Senator Clinton’s openly gay press secretary and close confidante. Brock would eventually hire Lattimore as a director of “special projects” for Media Matters.

In other words, the Witch flipped him by hooking him up with a male paramour.

Media Matters is not operating as a 501(C)(3).

Did you mean "now" instead of "not"? From the first half of the article: "Established in May 2004, Media Matters identifies itself as 'a Web-based, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center[.]'"

He “quoted” two messages that were not actually written by anyone on Free Republic, and one that was wildly misinterpreted. I’m not going to do your legwork for you, look it up for yourself—it’s been discussed here often.

O'Reilly is not a conservative watchdog and has never claimed to be one.

Well of course that is true. That is why my phraze was in quotes. I thought anyone could understand that, sorry.

He leans more right, but that does not make him conservative.

No he doesn't. He panders to the left for ratings. O'Reilly most certainly is not a conservative, he is much closer to a liberal, although his talent for sitting on the fence is without peer.

He will call people on the carpet as he sees it, regardless of ideology.

LOL, he will lie and smear anyone he wants to, and expects to be above critisizm.

I don't always agree with him, but more often than not, he speaks for my way of thinking.

Well, I scrolled up and noticed you know nothing of what he did with his lies and smears about Freerepublic being a racist hate site on par with the Daily Kos site.

Every one to his own, if he speaks for you, fine.

I suppose you only see his great shining moments, and do not even know about his Michael Jackson type payoff.

You know, here's millions of dollars, stop telling people what happened.

As you have been admonished by others, do your own research, don' ask me to fill you in.

He's just about on, turn on the TV and Tivo!
