Top U.S. military officer harangued by anti-war protestors, senators at hearing
One News Now ^ | October 1, 2007 | Jim Brown

A spokesman for the Family Research Council says Robert Byrd (D-West Virginia) was the "ringleader" of a Senate hearing that turned into a "circus" and disrespected two top U.S. military officials.

Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman General Peter Pace was shouted down by hecklers from the anti-war group Code Pink after reaffirming his belief that homosexuality is "counter to God's law" and should not be condoned by the military.

The hecklers had been booing and jeering Pace and Defense Secretary Bob Gates throughout a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing on the Pentagon's $190 billion funding request for the war in Iraq. The anti-war protestors created such a disturbance that Senator Robert Byrd, the committee chairman, was forced to suspend the hearing.

Tom McClusky of the Family Research Council says Senator Byrd let the protestors take over the hearing. "And then to top it all off, Senator Harkin starts attacking General Pace on his belief that homosexuals should not be serving in the military. Something that has been part of the military conduct for a very long time and something General Pace personally believes in, yet he was mocked and ridiculed by Senator Harkin," says McClusky. "And congratulations to Senator Judd Gregg for standing up to Senator Harkin and telling him he should be ashamed for his actions."

He says Harkin (D-Iowa) and Byrd were pandering to the more radical elements of their party. "I think it was a play to the radical Democratic base, the anti-war base, groups like Code Pink and MoveOn.org," he stated. "It was definitely a play to them, and I'm sure that if we went to their websites right now we'd probably see alerts telling them to thank Senator Harkin and to thank Senator Byrd for their mistreatment of a respected general."

McClusky says Pace showed a tremendous amount of character by keeping his cool and standing firm in his opposition to homosexuality and adultery in the military.

Robert Byrd is a complete ass! He's an embarrassment to all decent Americans and buys votes by delivering federal largesse to a poor state. The voters don't care that he's an ex-KKK socialist.

It’s incidents like this that make me thank God that Gore wasn’t elected in 2000.

The voters don't care that he's an ex-KKK and a socialist.

Fixed it.

If we detested Gore what will we think if the unwashed gaggle of Anti-American Imbeciles (AAI) elect an empress Hitlery to rule over us?

Byrd, a shameless buffoon, was passing out hate pamphlets and burning crosses at home while his peers were fighting World War II. He becomes intimidated around real Americans.

Byrd-Brain fits into the ranks of the DemocRAT Party very neatly.

He, like Hillary and Billy-Goat, emotes on and on saying absolutely nothing of importance while pointing his shaking, quaking finger at the C-Span camera

There are MANY Congress Critter, Murtha, Kerry, Kennedy, Durbin, Reid, Byrd, Biden, etc, etc,..... who seem immune to consequences..

In a SANE world, Dueling would be legal.

In the past - the risk of being challenged to a Duel was the ONLY thing that caused foul mouthed lying sonsuvbitches from the sort of behavior these lying, cheating, corrupt assholes get away with on a daily basis...

It been far too long since any of them had to face a insulted man with a pistol in his hand at 10 paces.

All those, and more, you've mentioned should be tarred and feathered. If the communists or their muslim friends were running things they'd be beheaded.

Since we never seem to get our way perhaps we need a benevolent despot to take over for a decade or so until this nation can resume as a true republic.

It is no wonder the American public views Congress with the lowest approval or highest disapproval rate than ever before. The clowns in Congress have no clue as the the real reason they are there. What is worse, they have no reason to care as long as we keep sending them back.

I recall when Alberto Fujimori was elected president he barred the doors of the Peruvian Parliament and told the astonished legislators that "You're getting in my way!"

I'm sick and tired of the 'clowns in Congress' who have distorted our Constitution to the point of ascininity and, along with the homosexuals and other liberal pansies, have accommodated the ravaging of our nation to the point that it's fit only for illegal immigrants from south of the border who can't see the difference.

Aaron Burr/Andy Jackson bump.

It really would be a riot if some of these pimps had to put up or shut up.

I was born and raised in Iowa and lived there for 36 years, and I'll be damned if I can figure out the Iowa people's attraction to that scumsucking dirtbag Tom Harkin. He is by far one of the most partisan, liberal hacks in Congress today, and yet the simpletons keep re-electing him term after term.

If the Earth were to open up tomorrow and swallow Harkin whole, I would throw flowers down the hole and drink champagne until my eyeballs started floating.

God, I really despise that man.

Wasn't dueling still illegal for much of the time it was being practiced, though? At first blush, it wasn't the illegality of it that made it unfashionable was it?

I don't know much about the subject. I would like to see what would happen of someone did, in a public venue, call someone like Byrd out on a point of honor, and demand his satisfaction. Not so's he could shoot him, but just to see what the reaction would be.
