Who knows, I guess they fancy themselves as enlightened and sophisticated oligarchs.
She’s a victim.
Thank you for posting the history of this case. Next she’ll demand the answers.
This article does not say that she also got an extra 9 hours because she is dyslexic and additional breaks because of her ADHD. All told, this woman is getting about three days to take a one day test.
And she is still failing it.
Socialized medicine can’t come soon enough for this woman.
Ahhh...isn't Harvard just a wee bit behind with this? Most places have been doing this since the seventies.
I know ADA requires “reasonable accommodation” but when it comes to being certified or authorized in cases where people’s lives are directly at risk, I think the greater good must be considered.
Having an MD who needs extra time and special breaks is not “reasonable” to the rest of us.
I feel sorry for you if you have to go take a wiz then.
God Blessed this wonderful mother. It's a beautiful picture.
Since you bring up the potential bad MDs argument, don't forget the USSC ruling in favor of less qualified applicants in the Bakke decision.
The favored applicant went on to have his licensed revoked for torturing a couple of patients with bad liposuction procedures. One may have died as a result of the procedure, and the poor medical care he provided post op, in trying to cover it up.
I can't believe we've sunk this low in commonsense.
The USSC rolled the dice with peoples' lives, they lost, and they themselves, did not pay for it.
This woman's desire to be an MD overrides her ability to function less than a "standard" MD, a malpractice premium increase waiting to happen, and the judiciary goes along with it.
We can only hope she becomes a pathologist.
Most likely, with her Harvard credentials, she can be any kind of MD she wants to be. We aren’t the Taliban here anymore. Wrong century.
I noticed too. This is the same one that's ADHD, and has a bunch of other problems, right?
Just the doc I would want taking care of my kid. "And, here, we're entering the spleen.... Ooop! A shiny thing! What's on TV tonight? Wait! I need to go to the bathroom! Be right back!"
Please explain.
Im sure the staff at whatever hospital she works at who will have to pick up the slack will appreciate her beautiful moment..
I'm all for a little help in taking the test - 9 hours straight ain't easy - but this is ridiculous. This woman is gaming the system. And unfortunately, the system is going to let her get away with it.
Hopefully, she'll be in a hospital far, far away from me.
Are you kidding me? You don’t have a clue about any of this do you?
Ya about as long as it takes you to pull down your nickers down and get them out of a wad.
Huh? The woman is asking for a ton more time on a test. If she was asking for say an extra 5 minutes two or three times it might be reasonable. There are two kinds of breast feeding moms ones who do it only out of love and those who are la leche and do it out of love and self pride. The latter generally wont make the slightest adjustment for other peoples comfort and demand the world bow around them.
In fact RTA "The state Appeals Court refused to overturn a decision issued by a single justice of the court last week allowing Sophie Currier, 33, an extra 60 minutes of break time.
" "The board, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit corporation, is responsible for administering the test used by boards of medicine across the country to license physicians. It has said it must be consistent in the amount of break time given to all test-takers and that other nursing mothers who have taken the exam found 45 minutes sufficient."
So for years nursing moms have managed to pass with 45 minutes of break but this woman needs 1:45? come on!
Any of you loud mouths would be blessed to have a woman who cares enough about her child to do this considering all the idiots who freak out about it. That includes other women as well.
She's already taken what is supposed to be a 9-hour test given in a single day, and because of her "Dyslexia and ADHD" gotten it spread out over a two day period.
She's successfully petitioned for an hour-long break for breast pumping (my wife took 15 minutes, when she was doing it).
And now, she's gotten a favorable ruling to get even more allowances.
I will admit that I don't know how the 9 hour test has been broken up over the two days - but assuming two 4-1/2 hour sessions, with an hour break somewhere in there each day, is a more than adequate accomdation for anyone in any situation, IMHO.
Well if she wants an hour and 45..I’d say she is just being an activist feminazi of some sort...cause it doesn’t take that long. Trust me.
