Prosecutor says Danny Bonaduce won't be charged after 'Survivor' incident

LOS ANGELES - Danny Bonaduce will not be charged with battery for tossing "Survivor" contestant Jonny Fairplay to the stage during an award show this week.

Fairplay jumped on Bonaduce at the Fox Reality Channel award show Tuesday night. Bonaduce tossed Fairplay over his shoulders, sending him face-first onto the stage. He reportedly lost one tooth and broke another.

But prosecutors said Bonaduce won't be charged because Fairplay "initiated contact and acted offensively."

According to a district attorney's report, Bonaduce's actions "fell within the realm of self-defence."

Fairplay, a former wrestler whose real name is Jon Dalton, came in third on the 2003 CBS show "Survivor: Pearl Islands" but was roundly condemned by viewers for concocting a lie that his grandmother was dead to win sympathy from competitors.

Bonaduce, 48, the centre of the 2005 reality show "Breaking Bonaduce" that detailed his efforts to repair his marriage and recover from alcohol and other problems, most recently has been co-hosting Adam Carolla's radio show. He first became a star at age 10 on "The Partridge Family."

Great news! I'm a former DA, and I concluded this was self-defense as well. If anything, the dryhumper should be charged with battery. Nice to see the boys in LaLaLand agree.

The only reasonable outcome.

Actually when a man leaps on someone and starts dry humping assault charges are still appropriate if the humpee wishes to pursue them.

I don’t know anything about this Fairplay guy but I assumed he was drunk or on drugs.

Fairplay "initiated contact and acted offensively."

"Offensive" doesn't even begin to describe his behavior.

Danny was well within his rights, in my view.

Actually, if you watch the video, I’d say it’s more likely that Danny was on the drugs and/or alcohol. That doesn’t change the fact that he was right though. :)

"Fairplay, a former wrestler whose real name is Jon Dalton"

Some wrestler. Bonaduce tossed this guy like a roll of toiler paper. When I saw it I couldn't figure out what Danny was supposed to have done wrong - They guy ran and jumped on him holding him in a bear hug. Danny just heaved the guy right over his head. The way O'Reilly was critizing Danny I was thinking the acts of the other guy must have been a planned part of the show and Danny did an improv move using too much muscle. If the guy jumping on Danny wasn't part of the act then Danny did not act out of line.

Yeah, Bill said it looks like Danny still hasn't worked through his personal problems and he still needs help. The implication I got was he was saying Danny has drug/alcohol issues.

It would be a silly suit to bring. Mr. Toothless initiated the contact. All Bonaduce did was throw the guy off of him. It was defensive. Bonaduce should counter-sue for battery, which he would win. Also mitigating the dryhumper's claim would be the fact that he was a former wrestler. He should know how to take a fall.

The only rational explanation for the humper to bring suit would be the desire for publicity. He won't get any money, that's for sure.

“Bonaduce tossed Fairplay over his shoulders, sending him face-first onto the stage.”
“Fairplay, a former wrestler”
“Bonaduce, 48,”

Nice job Danny!
