Austin Scott out for today's game
By Kevin Horan
Collegian Staff Writer
Austin Scott, one of Penn State's senior running backs, will not dress for today's game against Iowa because of an unspecified violation of team rules, the team announced this afternoon.
Sports Information Director Jeff Nelson made the announcement shortly before the Nittany Lions' game against Iowa, but would not answer further questions about Scott's long-term status with the team. He deferred all questions to coach Joe Paterno, who is scheduled to speak at the conclusion of today's game.
Scott started the first four games of the 2007 season at running back, but, after several costly fumbles, he was pushed behind senior Rodney Kinlaw on the depth chart for last week's game at Illinois. Scott is currently second on the team in rushing yards, with 302, and has six rushing touchdowns.
Asked what rule Scott is accused of breaking, Donahue Scott said, “Austin’s been asked not to talk about that, and I’m not going to talk about that.”
Donahue Scott said his son was not at home Saturday evening. Austin Scott was not on campus. Scott could not be reached for comment.
Following the Lions’ 27-7 victory over Iowa, Paterno would not speculate on the Parkland High graduate’s future, aside from saying that “his status is very much in doubt right now.”
“I don’t think it’s fair for me to get into anything right now,” Paterno added.

wasn’t on the sideline, was he?
school announcement never came, did it?
JP ain’t saying squat....
Pops ain’t saying squat.....
Cops have a “suspect”, but if they arrested him, they ain’t saying.....
Maybe he’s got a big family and making the rounds?
methinks this guy will be celebrity on gretatube soon.....I’ll bet you do, too.
Gotta wonder who emptied his locker, now....and the status of his dorm room?
Rumors flying everywhere - “he’s in jail” (wouldn’t that be a matter of public record, if so?), “girlfriend sticking by her man saying he was not involved in the assault” and so on. I’m just consuming, but drawing no conclusions. Don’t place a lot of stock in rumors, but unless something definitive is released, rumors are going to persist.
It certainly is strange that not a word of “official” information has come forth from anywhere.

yeah.....that keeps sharpton and jaxhun out of it for now.
Scott out -- for good? Paterno says Parkland grad's status with team 'very much in doubt.'
Hmmm. players told he’s no longer a member of the team and claim they don’t know what’s going on.
Thanks for the ping.
Yes, His locker has been cleaned out. It is more of a JoePa thing against Scott. Due to all the other stuff that has gone on with Austin, JoePa is fed up with him and will probably be glad when he is gone. I think JoePa or someone he knows of probably had Austin set up. JoePa and other staff memebers have been on Scott for a while to come play at Penn State, but once at Penn State and when it looked like he would shine JoePa put the brakes on Austin’s progression due to having Hunt at the time and also being able to use small mistakes by Austin as a cover to make Austin look bad.
Austin is not without being wrong is some instances, but the staff knows of his ways and should have done more to help him or should have arranged for his release to somewhere else that would have been a better fit for his abilities to be reinforced as a person and a football player.
Austin should have never been allowed to have attended this racist place and hopefully his name will be cleared.
You should be careful offering this opinion without evidence, FRiend.
You signed up today to insinuate Joe Paterno arranged a setup against one of his own players?
YOu should be careful of what could happen to you.
Yep, Sure did.
And you have no evidence whatsoever?
A lot of people are disgusted/disappointed that JoePa is still the coach of PSU, but you’ve gone a bit dotty about it, I’d say.
ping - this thread has gone insane. See posts above.

Well, I guess we don’t have to speculate any longer...
snips from 2 or 3 articles
she awoke to Scott trying to have sex, she testified. She said she tried to get up and “I started to say the word ‘no’ when he hit me.”
She immediately called friends, telling one of them Austin hurt me, she testified. A male friend rushed to pick her up and police were called, according to testimony.
The woman was taken by police to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment. Emergency room nurse Janet Cady testified she photographed and documented a number of bruises, red areas and abrasions on the womans body, including bruising where the woman said Scott punched her to begin the alleged assault.
“What makes this assault different ... is that she was punched in the kidney in order to gain compliance,” assistant district attorney Lance Marshall said outside the courthouse. “This case is more unusual than our typical sex assault case” on campus.
Austin Scott has been ordered to stand trial on felony rape and sexual-assault charges.
