Disgraced Sandy Berger joins Hillary Clinton campaign

Sandy Berger, who stole highly classified terrorism documents from the National Archives, destroyed them and lied to investigators, is now an adviser to presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Berger, who was fired from John Kerry´s presidential campaign when the scandal broke in 2004, has assumed a similar role in Clinton´s campaign, even though his security clearance has been suspended until September 2008. This is raising eyebrows even among Clinton´s admirers.

“It shows poor judgment and a lack of regard for Berger´s serious misdeeds,” said law professor Jonathan Adler of Case Western Reserve University, who nonetheless called Clinton “by far the most impressive candidate in the Democratic field.”

Adler told The Examiner that it is “simply incomprehensible to me that a serious contender for the presidency would rely upon him as a key foreign policy advisor.”

He added: “If Senator Clinton becomes the Democratic nominee, at some point she will begin to receive national security briefings that will include sensitive information. At such a point, continuing to keep Berger on board as a key advisor, where he might have access to sensitive material, would be beyond incomprehensible.”

The Clinton campaign declined to comment.

Berger has admitted stealing documents from the National Archives in advance of the 9/11 Commission hearings in 2003. The documents, written by White House counterterrorism czar Richard Clarke, were a “tough review” of the Clinton administration´s shortcomings in dealing with terrorism, Clarke´s lawyer told the Washington Post.

On several occasions, Berger stuffed highly classified documents into his pants and socks before spiriting them out of the Archives building in Washington, according to investigators. On one occasion, upon reaching the street, he hid documents under a construction trailer after checking the windows of the Archives and Justice Department buildings to make sure he was not being watched.

Berger came back later and retrieved the documents, taking them home and cutting them up with scissors. Two days later, he was informed by Archive employees that his removal of documents had been detected.

“Berger panicked because he realized he was caught,” said a report by the National Archives inspector general, which also recounted his initial reaction. “Berger lied.”

Berger also lied to the public, telling reporters he made an “honest mistake” by “inadvertently” taking the documents, which he blamed on his own “sloppiness.” Bill Clinton vouched for the explanation for Berger, who served as his national security adviser.

Berger later conceded: “I was giving a benign explanation for what was not benign.”

The Justice Department initially said Berger stole only copies of classified documents and not originals. But the House Government Reform Committee later revealed that an unsupervised Berger had been given access to classified files of original, uncopied, uninventoried documents on terrorism. Several Archives officials acknowledged that Berger could have stolen any number of items and they “would never know what, if any, original documents were missing.”

At his sentencing in September 2005, Berger was fined $50,000, placed on probation for two years and stripped of his security clearance for three years.

Because the truth is that Hillary doesn’t know jack about foreign policy or international diplomacy. Her issues are the commie nanny state stuff like socialized medicine, plus all the feminazi nonsense. Berger at least can find places on a map and is versed in the technical aspects of diplomacy. This isn’t to say he’s competent, but he knows the basics and will take the fall for his corrupt master (or mistress), as we’ve already seen.

From your link:

“But other former Bill Clinton aides who have lined up with Obama say they have been warned that if Hillary wins the nomination their disloyalty will be remembered.”

This is BS and deliberate disinformation. The plan has always been Hillary/Obama. They are all working together. The strategy is to make it look like they are enemy camps. This creates fierce loyalty by the unaware voter to one candidate or the other. When Hillary wins, Obama will be her choice of running mate and everyone’s happy.

You know, if our party doesn’t have the guts to show a bright light on all of the dirt that Hillary Clinton and her vile husband have all over themselves and their co-horts - then we don’t deserve to win

I'm leaning hard to...it's not "our" party.

Think you got the devil in the details here.

.
Clinton best not leave an unsupervised Berger access to files of original, uncopied, uninventoried documents from the late Vince Fosters office, or he may get them too.

One good term deserves another, hey? Congrats, Sandy. You’ve earned your place in history. And yeah, it will be written by Republicans. Count on it.

The panty-stuffer is back: Talk about things tantamount to torture. So,

In my view, if the Republicans don't screem this out loud, it's an indication that THE FIX IS IN! IOW, the whole damn process is a farce, the elections are a fraudulent, and our "leaders" are chosen via vote fraud and complicity by all the politicians involved.

Amazing. These criminals have no shame or any media to call them out. This will slide right by the masses as they are either too ignorant to understand how criminal the democrats are or they are in cahoots with them.

If I did not care about America or its children I would say let them have her as their queen but the price is way too high.

I simply can not believe the she beast has even made it this far. Disgusting.

Wow! I think this is a major blunder by Hillary.

What bothers me is that nobody seems to be outraged by it .. except maybe me.

It proves to me the “culture of corruption” is really THE DEMOCRATS AGENDA .. and Pelosi was using the normal tactic of accusing repubs of doing what democrats were already doing.

Charles Kruathammer (a Psychiatrist) said it’s called, “projection” - where you project upon your opponent the very criminal acts you are doing yourself. Charles said the dems are “mentally ill”; and cannot take responsibility for anything they do.

Another 8 years of shooting at our Military, like what Clinton1 let happen in the ‘no fly zone’.

This is so unbelievable!!! This is the first that I had heard that these documents were originals that Berger had stolen, and that there are no copies. So there is no way to determine what he had stolen and the damage that was done to our National Security? Unbelievable. Why was he given a slap on the wrist sentence?

I agree...we should have Jack Bauered him into revealing the contents of those documents. I wonder how hard he was questioned, if at all...

What evidence do you have of this? Both Presidents Bush have befriended the Saudi royal family -- the world's primary financial supporters of radical Islam -- while at the same time using U.S. military resources to wage war against a largely secular Iraqi government. People call me crazy, but I said back in 1991 that the U.S. was on the wrong side in the Gulf War.

The supposed Cold War never ended just regrouped using other peoples and lands to wage political, economic, educational and of course religious war against US. Now if that old foe that used the peoples of this globe to war against US crawls into the bed with Saddam and mooolahs of Iran, why would the US then behead the only country in the region with OIL. Interesting now isn't it with what transitioning of whom is NOW the oil cartel minus for the time being Saudi Arabia and Iraqi OIL what has it done for US?

No the greenies treat our resources of economic stabilization as a 'god' they send occasional homages to worship that vast tundra, and encourage the 'oil' cartel to be transitioned off to a vast for the most part unlivable unreachable wilderness way up North.

To claim the Iraqi government was largely secular is misleading. Old Saddam was his god and all served him as the supreme god else off with their heads. Old Saddam was attempting, words out of his own mouth to reenact the ancient king of Babylon. All he needed to have to rebuild that ancient place was those hanging gardens and that gate of Ishtar that is housed in some museum in Berlin.

Our part in Gulf War was because old Saddam invaded Kuwait for their OIL and it being a British protectorate was what brought in our might and treasury. Old Saddam agreed to end his war mongering and yet he played hide and seek with the international community when they came to inspect. Now who was it that was caught fleeing Iraq when we did finally say enough is enough???? Russian advisers in place to help old Saddam survive because of old Saddam's OIL.

Old Saddam was sending $25,000 to the family members that used their offspring to commit random homicide so Saddam was as much a part of the radical Islam promotion as Saudi royals.

Maybe this is one of the big reasons Bush fired those US attorneys. It is a fact that some in justice try to block all prosecution of any dim related crimes.

Does this quid pro quo really surprise anyone?

He's probably on Mrs. Clinton's short list for Sec. of State.

Particularly if that self serving p.o.s. did NOT destroy them as stated. Talk about a great bargaining chip!

Well yes, there is always that...

I wonder if Burglar shared the documents/information in these documents with anyone?
