It's Revival Time for the Democrats [Rats Get Religion--Pruden column]
The Washington Times ^ | 9 Oct 07 | Wes Pruden

Posted on 10/09/2007 9:07:55 AM PDT by seanmerc

It's not exactly the old-time religion, but suddenly there's sawdust on the trail. If some other worthy actually wins the Democratic nomination, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have a new career open to them, reprising Jim and Tammy Faye. Praise the Lord.

Just when everyone thought that no Democrat wanted to be caught in church dead or alive, it's revival time. First Hillary started talking about the influence of the Methodist social gospel on her life — this must have been heck all these years for Bubba, a hymn-singing good ol' Baptist boy — and now Barack Obama invokes God in a way that no Republican, whether moved by the spirit or falling poll numbers, would have dared.

"I think it's important, particularly for those of us in the Democratic Party, to not cede values and faith to any one party," Mr. Obama told a predominately black congregation in Greenville, S.C. "We're going to keep on praising together. I am confident that we can create a Kingdom right here on Earth."

[snip]

But the senator's pastor back in Chicago, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., who the senator cites as his inspiration, wouldn't satisfy Harry Golden's synagogue. The only sin he denounces is the inherent sin of being American. In one sermon posted on the Internet, Mr. Wright says America was founded on racism and runs on racism. "We are deeply involved in the importing of drugs, the exporting of guns and the training of professional killers. We believe in white supremacy and black inferiority and believe it more than we believe in God. We conducted radiation experiments on our own people ... And God! Has got! To be sick! Of this [doo-doo]!" (Exclamation points definitely not mine.)

Mr. Wright says America was founded on racism and runs on racism.

That is his world view, and I would say he is one of the most racist people there is.................

Yeah, and I don’t think God would approve of profanity being used in His Name.

Hillary means, of course, the Methodist social gospel of throwing white males in prison for thirty years to advance liberal causes.

Duke university (a united methodist institution with 24 of 36 Board of trustees elected directly by the conventions) tried to do just that, and it is certainly inline with the Hillary we know. This sure isn't the gospel that was preached in Aldersgate United Methodist where I was baptized as a teenager, but it seems to be the Methodism of the Clintons and of today.

If anyone reading this post is offended by it - show me where the conventions have removed the trustees who were in charge and I will retract.

If you can't then go fix it.

If you believe in God, you know those Democrats that use religion once every four years as a political ploy will have quite a bit of explaining to do beginning a few seconds after they go ‘room temperature’.

And thats a no spin zone BOR can’t match.

Nor do I think that God would want his name invoked for political expediency.

HRC got that old time religion to launch her new age socialism.

There an big difference between obedient believers of the Lord Jesus Christ and these unbelieving blasphemers.

Bill Clinton "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which the democratic party will do for you."
96 Dem Convention God's Word But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. Obama: "we can create a Kingdom right here on Earth." God's Word 4And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.

As Mark Twain would say, “They have the words but not the music.”

Democrats are incapable of doing anything with simple credibility, or even in moderation. Overnight, they morph from trying to criminalize God to constantly invoking Scripture and explaining how they’ve always been a God fan in every aspect of life. They’re now officially more obnoxious on the subject of religion than a would-up huckster trying to peddle miracle towels or autographed photos of the Saviour (apoligies to the Rev. Billy Sol Hargis of the First Church of the Gooey Death and Baptismal Car Wash). Any day now, I expect them to start selling some sort of religious aid or relic at the debates.
