Wow...that's long...ever think of linking to the article?

And what do the two have in common? Is ice cream a catalyst to the taking of Lipitor?

I thought Cherry Garcia came out in 2004.

That was the first time I heard about it.

Shows what I know.

Nothing.

None of us really needs the pill anyway—just lose the ice cream, shed the pounds, stop smoking, and exercise regularly

This guy is clearly NOT a doctor.

Familial Hypercholesterolaemia

More technical stuff:

FH is an autosomal dominant disorder caused by a mutation in the gene encoding the LDL receptor protein. The heterozygous form of this disorder has a prevalence of about one in 500 people, making it one of the more common genetic diseases. Hypercholesterolemia can be detected at birth in umbilical cord blood. The total cholesterol level in heterozygous patients generally ranges from 350 to 550 mg/dl. Management of FH requires both dietary intervention and drug therapy.

Medscape

IOW...a genetic cholesterol disorder. I know, my husband is on four different types of drugs for cholesterol since he has this particular disorder.

CONCERNED ABOUT TOO MANY CARBS OR FATS IN YOUR DIET?

For those of you who watch what you eat, here’s the final word on nutrition and health. It’s a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION

Eat and drink what you like.
Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

We will get Socialized Medicine, whether we elect Republicans or Democrats. The system is basically run by women now and among them, by single women who are probably 90% functioning socialists. That situation must deteriorate as marriage is discouraged in the society and finally stigmatized.

Socialized medicine will end experimentation and new drugs and will kill off many of the existing wonder-drugs and procedures. The old diseases will come back as new antibiotics are no longer developed and the microbes become resistant, then immune to existing ones. The current American still basically free market is the only reason that there is still research and new drugs and new machines anywhere on Earth. With the government paying for everything, medicine will not only be inefficient and costs not recoverable, but things medical will have to compete for funds with the military and Social Security and the EPA, etc.

For a while the very wealthy will continue to get their needs met as doctors move their practices offshore to the Bahamas or Central America but the dearth of innovation will catch up with them after a while. Machines will gradually disappear from hospitals as maintenance can't be justified against the requirements for Affordable Housing in Greensboro. The Wealthy will continue to get the best available medicine but the quality of their care will decline just as medicine for the rest of us declines.

This guy needs an editor. It sounds like just another “obesity epidemic” rant.
