Policeman threatens to arrest boy for toy gun - UK
The Daily Telegraph ^ | 10/09/2007

Posted on 10/11/2007 3:22:09 PM PDT by Daniel Bliss

A policeman was criticised yesterday after he ordered an eight-year-old boy to smash up his toy gun – because it was an "imitation firearm".

The officer confronted Samuel England, of Pinehurst, Swindon, Wilts, as he played with the black and orange plastic toy outside his home. He told the boy to destroy the "weapon" or he would be arrested.

Samuel's stepfather, John Standen, 34, came to his aid but was warned it was an offence to have an imitation firearm in public.

The officer only left when Mr Standen had snapped the toy in half – leaving Samuel in tears. But he returned five minutes later to warn his stepsister Sophie, six, about riding her battery-powered Barbie car on the pavement.

Samuel's mother, Sarah, 30, said: "Samuel was so scared that he would be taken away. I had to explain to him that they can't do that."

Wiltshire Constabulary confirmed the incident took place, but refused to name the officer involved.

I consider the incident to be good training for the miserable future he faces under the thumb of EU bureaucrats.

This banning toy gun thing is coming liberal AMERICAN enclaves soon.

In fact, ABC news ran a story tonight about a supposed Columbine-like school shooting being thwarted by authorities in philly ("The City of Brothers...").

They showed the ambulance-chasing/political media whores standing behind the youth suspect's "arsenal". Mentioned briefly, was the FACT that "most" of the guns were bb guns, and ONE (count them, ONE) gun was a 9mm "assault weapon" (a POS Highpoint like the one used at Columbine, and the REASON that so many unfired 9mm rounds were found at Columbine - due to obvious malfunctions/failures-to-fire. The perps there discovered that a shotgun is most effective and destructive.). Since the breathless reporter in the philly case only named ONE ACTUAL firearm (the 9mm carbine), it leads me to believe that ALL of the other firearms were BB GUNS/TOY GUNS. What these lying, obfuscating, gun-grabbing liberals won't try and do to push unconstitutional and nonsensical gun control!

It SHOULD be against the law to have IMITATION POLICE OFFICERS in public.

After all, even REAL ones with guns, like we have in the US, are essentially WORTHLESS when it comes to protecting individuals in a timely manner when the sh*t hits the fan.

Not their fault, just the nature of the beast.

For instance, I read that Cho murdered the large number of students AND himself at VA Tech in SECONDS.

Some cops showed up in MINUTES.

TOO DAMN LATE to save anyone.

Sad how far “Great” (sic) Britain has sunk.

“Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves. Britons never ever shall be slaves.”

Well, they can retire that tune.

Now would be a really good time for everyone to buy firearms. Do it now while you can, and don’t forget the ammo.

yeah, can’t find an M16, M1, M4, or other recent US weapons, but you can find AK47s, MP5s, UZIs, etc.
i do like our selection around here tho. local walmart is stocked to the gills with 1894 lever actions, colt peacemakers and even some coach guns.

*****“Samuel’s mother, Sarah, 30, said: “Samuel was so scared that he would be taken away. I had to explain to him that they can’t do that.”

What allows her to think that?*****

Well, unless our protofascist government has recently changed the law, then the kid was still below the age of criminal responsibility. So he can’t be arrested or charged with a crime.

*****Stuff out of Britain lately is beyond parody.

And if you read the UK boards they say typically British understated stuff about these absurd episodes, like "One has to contemplate whether this is the proper course of action".*****

Oh, I don't know, the chaps at Free Britannia seem to have had the right reaction to this incident.

The EU will never force its Constitution on the British people, sir.

There are too many British patriots, like myself, who will resist...

“The toy had to be registered as a firearm before the Devon girl and her family could board their holiday flight home from South Africa.”

Years ago ( pre TSA) my wife, young son(5yrs old) and I were leaving the airport at Lihue, Kauai. Our carry on was being run thru the xray scanner. The operator called out “I have a pistol.” I thought this should be interesting as I watched the security woke up and pull their fingers out of their noses. I then realized they were after our bags. They pulled the Flipper the Dolphin water pistol from our bags. It had a pistol grip that the operator picked up. We were advised it can’t go into the cabin but they could ship it to us. I guess they were afraid we could try and use Flipper to squirt them to Havana. Oh well it was tossed and my son got a better replacement when we got home.

Quite right, sir.

If I'd been the child's parent I would have made the copper take the matter to Court, so that it would have been thrown out and he would have had his career ruined.
