I searched but couldn't find any mainstream news blurbs about this; all news seem to be on Filipino oriented websites.

I’m surprised the French didn’t do this first.

Hey Filipinos!! Get over yourselves. While you’re at it, how about cleaning up those crooked card games you’re famous for running. (Hey fuggetaboutit...I’m just saying, you know) /Jersey_Disclaimer

What they should do, is get ABC to write in a future episode where an incompetent black doctor, and his incompetent airhead-blonde intern sidekick, and the incompetent Latino nurses, almost kill someone while the Filipino doctor ends up saving the person’s life and showing up everyone else.

The reputations of doctors are affected, their income is affected and this is a major damage inflicted not only on them but also the universities in the Philippines, said lawyer Ted Laguatan. They have universities in the Philippines? Who knew.

what a joke..you know, I work with many Filipinos at a local HMO office here in Los Angeles. It is common knowledge, that for a price, you can buy diplomas in their country. This is something I was told by more than one Filipino co-worker.

The mainstream media including ABC helped create the situation where this kind of “outrage” and lawsuit over such a trivial and fleeting remark could be taken.
ABC deserves the aggravation, even though the suit is without merit.

"from some med school in the Philippines" The suit is probably going to be handled by a lawyer who got his degree from some law school in the Philippines.

The best doctor I ever had was from the Phillipines. He was present at my birth and my physician until my 20s. Not one doctor since has listened as well, nor apprised my symptoms as correctly.
That was in Maryland, decades ago, and things might differ where you are, but I'd take my chances with a Phillipine doctor over the current crop of medisocial jihadi Carribean medical school fugitives any day.

So, sue Susan Mayer in a fictional court, and she can pay off in fictional money.

If they get even close to court they will get an expose of Philippine medical schools for their troubles. For good or ill.

Lawsuit whether nuisance or frivolous, who cares? At least they have better case than Ms Crystal Magnum! They have better case than SCO versus IBM. It can’t easily be thrown off the a judge either. Please don’t compare educated Filipinos versus people who never attended college coming to the U.S. via the southern borders. Filipinos who graduated college in the Philippines can take post graduate studies to doctorate degrees in the U.S. without additional credentials. They don’t need to reeducate to learn English because the medium of instruction in the Philippines is already U.S. English.

The comment wasn't all that insulting--from an American perspective.
However, the Philippines does not have much to be proud of. When you have little to be proud of, and then some guy makes a mockery of even that, can see how that could get to you.
